Launching a new product line demands both bold risks and caution. How will you strike the perfect balance?
In the perfect world, your organization is customer centric. Product design is a function of customer input (needs and desires). Any product that does not have a customer centric design philosophy carries the chance that it is irrelevant and will fail to launch. Thorough customer testing before and after the design stage is the formula for success

Here's how you can secure temporary and contract work in the AI field.
A core Machine Learning skill is in data cleaning, to help clean up messy data before it is parsed into training data sets “DataFrames” It is quicker to cross over from an existing skill, such as R, SAS or SQL into something like Pandas, but even beginners can pick up the skills relatively quickly through taking a course or through self-learning. Data is a huge opportunity for re-skilling and offers an opportunity to get working on Machine Learning and related projects quickly to build up your skills and resume.
-
What do you do if AI professionals need constructive and supportive feedback?
AI covers many techniques and technologies. For example, Machine Learning and Deep Learning are two different techniques that are applicable to different use cases, for example structured versus unstructured data. Not every use case requires compute intensive technology, sometimes a simple linear regression may be sufficient. Matching a use case with the appropriate technology requires skill and up front design. Blindly moving ahead with whatever tool is available is unlikely to lead to a successful outcome, especially where models are left to handle messy data - incurring technical debt that should be fixed in a data pipeline.
-
What do you do if AI professionals need constructive and supportive feedback?
Solutioning with AI is not that different to solutioning with other technologies. Not every tool is applicable and not every project will be a success. Time boxing effort and defining success and failure at each stage of development helps to prioritize viable solutions over solutions that are starting to fail to meet their functional targets. Human factors engineering may be applicable, for example in healthcare, requiring additional safeguards be designed early in the solution design process.

Fascinating research that shows how incumbent companies that launch sustainable products and services increase revenue faster than companies that aren’t stepping into the green economy. Great example of how the marriage of AI with Large Language Models (LLM) can measure the success of a Sustainable Business approach for companies. This study investigates the financial characteristics of firms offering climate solutions through products and services aimed at fostering a transition to a low-carbon economy. The study uses a new measure that applies LLM to 10-K Item 1 Business Description to quantify a firm’s focus on climate solutions. Highly recommended reading the article but also downloading the report. Truly fascinating and proves Sustainable business is good business! #Sustainability #sustainabilityisgoodbusiness https://lnkd.in/grfdse7M

🦖Dinosaurs’ Playbook: Embrace AI or Fossilize 😀🦖 Had an interesting conversation with a CEO recently. As we spoke, I could see the fear of obsolescence in their eyes—a fear that their once dominant company, might soon be outpaced by a wave of AI-native competitors. But here’s the truth: stomping over AI-native startups and companies is not a strategy. Trying to outmuscle innovation only accelerates irrelevance. My advice to this CEO? Transform that fear into action. To stay relevant in the AI era, it’s time to innovate with purpose, not force. 💡Define an Audacious AI Vision: AI isn’t a quick fix or a bolt-on solution. CEOs need to articulate a bold, future-facing AI vision that inspires every corner of the business. AI is a strategy, not a side hustle—it’s time to embed it into the DNA of your business and make it a boardroom agenda item. 💡Foster an AI-Native Culture: Winning with AI means reshaping your organization’s mindset. It’s not about trying to compete with AI-native startups’ speed—it’s about empowering your teams to think, learn, and innovate like one. Build a culture that values experimentation over perfection, data over hierarchy, and curiosity over complacency. Invest in AI literacy, encourage AI curiosity, and create incentives for every team to play a role in AI innovation. 💡Evaluate Your Data and Tech Infrastructure: AI is only as powerful as the data and technology it runs on. Legacy data silos and outdated infrastructure will strangle AI innovation. CEOs must invest in transforming their data ecosystems to be accessible, secure, and quality-driven. Bring in modernized cloud systems, leverage clean data, and think data-driven by design. Rethink where on prem is absolutely needed. 💡Lead with Startup Agility and Speed: Traditional companies are often held back by slow decision-making and red tape, while startups pivot, adapt, and learn faster. Adopt a more agile approach—empower teams to experiment, make data-driven decisions quickly, and fail forward. Embrace a test-and-learn culture at every level, from product teams to the C-suite. Speed and agility aren’t just advantages—they’re survival essentials in the AI race. 💡Prioritize Responsible AI Governance: Governance is what builds trust, accountability, and transparency with your customers and stakeholders. Without a strong AI governance posture, you may show up—but you won’t win in AI. 🚀Generative AI and advanced AI applications aren’t optional anymore; they’re essential for future relevance and resilience. To the leaders of traditional companies: staying relevant means embracing AI not as a threat, but as the biggest opportunity in decades. It’s time to get bold, governed, and agile—or risk becoming the “dinosaurs” of the past 🦖🦕 I talked about AI governance with Yahoo Finance #ai #genai #responsibleai #aigovernance

OpenAI’s deal with Apple is shaking up the competitive balance in the artificial intelligence race. What can boards learn from Apple's AI strategy? My Take: ✅ Engage and oversee environmental impacts to mitigate risks for the long term and SEC's climate rule compliance. ✅ Demand the establishment of a Chief AI Ethics Office and seek metrics on AI models to improve human rights and well-being. ✅ Seek metrics on AI model accuracy and performance. ✅ Establish innovation and technology committees to seek technology reporting and trends in AI democratization across business users, talent/skills, and technology platforms. ✅ Understand the CFOs and CIOs' alignment in capital allocation strategies as they profoundly impact EBITDA and EBITDA margins. ✅ Oversee CTOs on reducing model inference costs due to OPEX implications. ✅ Seek metrics on compliance, sustainable technology, and security posture management now due to Apple's bimodal approach -On-device AI and Cloud AI. ✅ Never underestimate the power of the ecosystem economy by democratizing capabilities such as the App Store for the long view. ✅ Treat data as a competitive advantage. Never outsource your AI strategy to an API call. Oversee AI cost/value models and ethics. ✅ Prioritize data security, cost, safety concerns, accuracy uncertainty, and potential IP leakage on the board's agenda. ✅ Build a well-aligned board composition, foster a culture of trust, and prioritize talent and multi-stakeholder engagement. ✅ A capable board has good chemistry, reinforcing agility and a long-term mindset. Ensure AI safety is at the core. It’s all about balance and the long view. ✅ Understand what Superalignment means. $$$ billion impacts to achieve AGI's capability to improve itself. Understand CAPEX and sustainability impacts. ✅ Risk tolerance, risk-aligned use cases, and disclosure obligations are essential to your AI journey. Oversight!! Oversight!! It's Not About #GenAI Language Models, It's About the #Platform! In the current wave of excitement surrounding new GenAI language models, it's easy to overlook a critical aspect of enterprise AI applications: the platform. For businesses, success with AI isn't just about having powerful models; it's about having an enterprise-ready platform that enables secure, scalable, and cost-effective development and deployment of Gen AI applications. Frankly, the most frequently asked question by Retailer/Brand CXOs in most of my customer engagements is- How do we build and scale GenAI use cases? How fast can we implement them? The European home improvement retailer, Kingfisher plc, faced this challenge head-on. They needed a secure, compliant environment where they could quickly build, use, and scale AI models without reinventing the wheel for every service. Their solution was Athena, an orchestration framework built on #GoogleCloud. This platform not only streamlines the creation of complex, secure AI solutions but also drastically reduces development time. It's a great example of how the right platform can empower businesses to leverage the power of Gen AI without getting lost in the technical weeds. So, what does this all mean? 👉 Forget reinventing the wheel - platforms like GoogleCloud #VertexAI take care of the heavy lifting so you can focus on building awesome AI solutions. 👉 Time is money! Vertex AI helps you get your AI ideas to market faster. and whether you're a startup or a giant, you now have scalable and cost-effective AI platforms to bring your ideas to life. If you're a retailer or brand looking to explore the possibilities of Gen AI, I highly recommend checking out #GoogleCloud #VertexAI platform. It's not just about the language models—it's about having a platform that enables you to innovate and scale with ease. Let me know if you have any questions or want to chat more about Gen AI for retail! #GoogleCloud #VertexAI #Retail #AI #GenAI

Anthropic’s latest generative AI model, Claude 3.5 Sonnet, is outperforming industry giants like OpenAI’s GPT-4o on key benchmarks after its release. This new model is reported as Anthropic’s “most intelligent model yet,” excelling in reasoning and coding tasks while running twice as fast and at a fifth of the cost of its predecessor, Claude 3 Opus. Claude 3.5 Sonnet was released last Thursday and has quickly climbed to the top of league tables, including the LMSYS Chatbot Arena for coding and hard prompts, ranking just behind GPT-4o overall. It is part of a three-model family, combining features of the Haiku and the Opus models, designed for efficient, high-throughput tasks. #ai

This research is fundamental in understanding the challenges of #AI. I was having precisely this discussion last night with my friend EB Research Partnership CEO and Smart Cities Council Global Thought Leader Michael Hund (before touching on the more insidious sentient intelligence). We put it in the context of the last 100 years of transformational technology with unintended consequences: - nuclear power started out as a way to create limitless, comparatively clean, (yes, I mean it), energy. Then someone made a bomb. - Mapping the human genome started out to understand the human body, prevent and cure disease. Then people started wanting to clone organs and genetically engineer children - the internet connected all (most) people on the planet with all information(and lies), and people use it for posting memes and rotting their brains All of the above 3 started out by government consortia with good intentions that ended up having unintended consequences Importantly, all of the above 3 required human intervention and decision making AI and the emergent and terrifying sentient intelligence have been invented by corporates to make profit by controlling and targeting information. It has been specifically designed to exploit people and what we are seeing is different on 2 levels: - the terrible consequences are entirely intentional - we are on the cusp of self-aware intelligence that no longer requires human prompting. With #sentient #intelligence the genie is nearly out of the bottle. We have tech companies that are bigger than nations and governments that cannot begin to grasp the urgent challenges we face.

A really fascinating post by Kostas Rossoglou that asks good questions of the #EU direction, what #Europe wants from the #BrusselsEffect and perhaps to consider #ReverseBrusselsEffect and to examine the #CostOfEurope and also what kind of cooperation and coordination we want around the world. The #EU is trying hard to export its approach, but it just doesn't fit with most other territories. If we go beyond these countries, the differences are just as stark. Our rules or #regulation shouldn't mean we fall behind and our #consumers get less than everyone else. #BlessedWithLess #CCIAeurope CCIA Europe #digitalEU #competitiveness #BetterRegulation

Looking Back, Moving Forward: The Power of the IWB Manifesto In 2016, the IWB Manifesto set a bold new standard—a compass guiding our mission through uncharted waters. It’s more than just words on a page; it’s been a rallying point for our global community, shaping how we approach change and fostering genuine connections within our COPs and SIGs. Today, as we face a world of constant pivots, its focus on psychological depth, authentic leadership, and creating true value feels even more relevant. It’s a reminder that people build organizations—not the other way around—and that every story and voice can drive transformative change. In many ways, the Manifesto is like a great brand—a promise well kept. Mindshare is often as significant, if not more so, than just Market Share as a Big Footprint. Like the vision behind the IWB Manifesto, we’ve held ourselves to a high standard, ensuring that everything we do aligns with the core principles that make IWB unique. This discipline allows us to stay true to our identity while evolving alongside the changing landscape. The challenge lies in evolving without compromising who we are—remaining faithful to our commitment to our community while adapting to new realities. This is the heart of the Manifesto: balancing progress with authenticity and consistently delivering the meaningful and authentic experiences we promise every time we engage with our community. Take a deep dive into the Manifesto’s core. It’s a beacon for those ready to challenge the status quo and make a lasting impact. 🌍✨ Join the conversation, explore the Manifesto, and share your reflections. Let’s build a world where leadership is as much about heart as strategy. #leadershipdevelopment #purposedriven #transformativechange #resiliencebusiness #empowerment #futureleaders #changeleadership #organizationalculture #mindsetmatters

The sustainability of technology, AI particularly, is a pressing issue with long-lasting, global impacts. As a compelling new Atlantic Council article notes, it’s important to discuss not only AI applications for sustainability, but also the sustainability of the AI industry itself. “the projected demands on data centers in the coming years due to the rise of AI—in terms of hardware, power, cooling, land and water use, and access to physical infrastructure and network bandwidth (a particular concern in growing urban areas)—are likely to far outstrip demands associated with other technologies” The article proposes 13 key sustainability questions policymakers should be asking as a starting point. These are also questions the board should be considering, as one of the authors and machine learning expert Catherine Lopes (PhD GAICD) notes. I've also made this point in the context of climate-related financial reporting and the growing impact of technology and AI on the organisation’s carbon emissions (https://lnkd.in/gBA-7VAZ). #DigitalDirectors #AIGovernance #ESTG

Announcing the New Book in the #TransHumanCode Series: “Humanity at the Crossroad” Co-authored by Carlos Creus Moreira and David Fergusson, Humanity at the Crossroad delivers a powerful and fluid exploration of the transformative convergence of artificial intelligence (AI) and quantum computing—two technologies that are reshaping the world faster than society can adapt. Quantum computing is unlocking computational capabilities that promise breakthroughs in fields such as healthcare, climate science, and global security. But as it intertwines with AI, it accelerates the evolution of systems that are not only faster but increasingly autonomous and unpredictable. The convergence of these technologies places humanity at a critical juncture, raising urgent questions about control, ethics, and our ability to coexist with such powerful tools. In this seamless narrative, Moreira and Fergusson examine the profound risks posed by quantum-enhanced AI, including the potential for “runaway AI” to surpass human understanding and control. The emergence of “non-human AI,” systems devoid of human values or ethical considerations, represents a stark warning about a future where critical decisions may prioritize efficiency and logic over empathy and morality. The book explores the tangible dangers of these technologies falling into the wrong hands, destabilizing societies through mass surveillance, unregulated governance, and the erosion of human autonomy. Yet, Humanity at the Crossroad is also a manifesto for hope and action. It offers a clear vision for ensuring these technologies serve humanity rather than diminish it. The authors propose bold, actionable strategies, including the development of quantum-resistant cryptographic standards, the embedding of ethics into AI systems, and the fostering of global collaboration to regulate and guide these innovations. They also unveil the groundbreaking #transhumancode AI initiative, which aims to integrate centuries of human wisdom into machine learning, creating AI systems that respect human dignity and prioritize ethical decision-making. This is not just a book—it is a timely call to action, reminding readers that the future of AI and quantum computing is not preordained. By taking proactive measures today, humanity can steer these transformative technologies toward empowering society rather than undermining it. Special Announcement: Humanity at the Crossroad will make its global debut at the WISeKey SEALSQ Event during Davos. This exclusive launch ensures that the book’s critical message will reach the world’s most influential decision-makers and thought leaders at a time when the dialogue around AI and quantum technology has never been more urgent.

Would you want to have an AI ”friend”? This seems to be one of the new trends in AI application where AI entrepreneurs are trying to enter the very intimate space we all have for real, emotion-fulfilling friendships. Now there is a “friend” pendant on the market that texts you when you want but read (or listen) to this conversation on the Verge magazine with Eugenia Kuyda, the founder of Replika, one of the leading AI applications for tech friendships. How far AI can go in creating a real friendship and can it replace a real human, is this the future of friendships? The head of Replika says AI is not meant to replace people and it rather creates a new type of relationship – it is not human friend and not a therapist, but rather something in between. This is an interesting concept and Ms Kuyda has some profound insight into “friendships” – we as people can manage and form very different relationships with intimacy and boundaries and why would not have a technology friend? What does an AI friend achieve? It may reduce loneliness, to give some unconditional love, have a true companion when you need one and maybe that allows you to grow as a person and professional. These concepts are novel and may sound quirky for now, but imagine, maybe in ten or twenty years’ time this will be the norm and we will look back and think just how we managed without that AI friend? Who knows, but here is the full conversation for your own reflection: https://lnkd.in/dNS675WK #artificialintelligence #ai #aifriend #relationships #technology #mentalhealth #mindfulness #digital #strategy
