What an incredible evening it was! 🥂 🌃 📺 We had the pleasure of powering an exclusive investors' mixer in #London, hosted by Sony Innovation Fund. The room was brimming with energy as African-focused investors and institutional capital allocators gathered to connect, share insights, and explore the exciting opportunities within #Africa’s emerging markets. 🎟️ The event saw fantastic representation from leading funds, including DFS Lab, Microtraction, Knife Capital, Ventures Platform Fund, CV VC, Seedstars Africa Ventures, and many more. The conversations were insightful, and it was truly inspiring to hear stories from some of the key players shaping the future of African investments. ⭕ Beyond networking, this evening served as a precursor to the upcoming 11th edition of the African Early Stage Investor Summit (#AESIS 2024). With the theme “Pioneering Pathways: Innovating Investment Mobilization in Africa,” AESIS will take place in Cape Town, South #Africa, this November, setting the stage for even deeper discussions on driving investment into the region. Swipe through the highlights below 📸 to see moments of connection, collaboration, and innovation. From new friendships to inspiring conversations, this night truly embodied the power of a shared vision for the future of African investments. #venturecapital #cvc

💸 Compensation for emerging talent supporting investments on the African continent has been opaque for too long. 📜 We are thrilled to be working with Dream VC to put together a comprehensive study looking at compensation for pre-partner roles at African focused investment (PE, VC, DFI, Foundations, etc) and investment support (financial consulting, accelerators, etc) firms. 👁️🗨️ If you are working in one of these roles - please fill out our survey here: https://lnkd.in/ebPJbsFu. All data collected will be kept confidential. 🏆 And some additional motivation for participation - there will be a prize drawing for survey participants. 🗓️ We'll be closing the survey at the end of the month. 🌍 Watch this space - more to come on the results and what we're learning! ❓ Any questions? Tunisia, you’ve left us with stories that will linger long after our return. 🌍 🌍 The #Tunisia Ecosystem Week brought together our largest Dream VC delegation yet—over 70 fellows and alumni. It was a celebration of community, a week when we felt the pulse of a nation deeply committed to innovation, and where the spirit of collaboration filled every conversation and connection we made. This gathering was masterfully co-created by the phenomenal Sarah Ben Younes and her V3 Factory team, whose vision transformed an event into an experience we’ll remember for years. What stood out most wasn’t just the ecosystem's impressive framework or the ambitious policies like the Tunisian Startup Act. It was the people. The #founders we met were resilient in the truest sense—individuals who face adversity head-on and continue to push boundaries with unwavering passion. They reminded us that innovation isn’t born from ease, but from overcoming challenges with grit and heart. Startups like InstaDeep have set a new benchmark, proving that even the toughest paths can lead to record-breaking exits when guided by vision and determination. And yet, beyond the business insights, it was the human moments that stole our hearts. From the vibrant streets of #Tunis to the quiet exchanges over mint tea, the warmth and hospitality of the Tunisian people were unforgettable. It was a reminder that even in the fast-paced world of #venturecapital, it’s the small, sincere moments of connection that matter the most. What started as a network has evolved into a home. The #DreamVC alumni community has become a space where we lift each other up, share our wins, and find support when the road gets tough. Whether it was catching up with old friends at the Flat6Labs mixer or meeting our incredible media partners like Gerald Black and Benjamin Dada, every encounter reminded us of the potential that arises from genuine connection. These interactions, filled with laughter and shared insights, were the heartbeats of the retreat. 🚀 Shoutout to all of our Dream VC fellows for making this trip memorable (some of whom traveled 20+ hours to arrive in Tunis), our unbelievable co-organizer team V3 Factory (Sarah, Chehnez Hicheri, Montassar Shimi, Amine Sghaier, Yesmine Chalgham), and the outstanding donors who made TEW possible. The Tunisia Ecosystem Week was generously supported by the Special Initiative Decent Work for a Just Transition - "Invest for Jobs" mandated by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and implemented by GIZ Tunisie through its Digital Transformation Center; Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations, The World Bank Group and Smart Capital; as well as Agence Française de Développement, Expertise France, Qawafel, Orange Tunisie and Madica. IA '24 have officially graduated 🎈🎆✨ We use the word community very often. But what does community truly mean? 💭 Is it just a group of people gathering together? Does it require certain ways of interacting? Must they share the same history or envision the same future? At Dream VC, we’ve taken the time to explore what community means to us, and here’s what we found: It is having passion aligned in the same direction, a certain kind of faith in ourselves and the future we are building together. It is a shared understanding and commitment to learning—regardless of time zones and regions. It is an optimistic outlook and a genuine interest in the African ecosystem, keeping those roots strong no matter where we go. It is the joy we find in engaging with each other's humor, questions, and even grief on difficult days. We have built a space through abstraction and found meaning in our connections. ✨ IA, you have been vibrant, generous, hilarious, and inspiring in every way. You are the embodiment of what Dream VC stands for, the community we will continue to point to when asked, What defines us? 💎 Good luck and congratulations ❤️🥂 Aaron Olajide, Abena Opeibea Anie-Budu, Abraham Williams, PhD, Adebowale Asaya, CPSM, PMP, Albert Mbithi, Ashley Maddox, Brigitte Binneman, Chisobem N., Deborah Sanni, Dorra Mahbouli, MBA, Mafini Dosso, PhD, PMP®, Dr. Dami Adeyemi-Levites FCCA, Victor Ekoko Mukete, Emmanuel Inyada, Fanta Traore, Jennifer Onwudiwe, Joe Ndirangu, Julie Lanckriet-Goerig, Kevin Finjap Njinga, Lauretta E., Lenah Hafez Al-Akrami, Mamadou Fall, Maxime LOKOSSI, MSc MODEV, CDFP, Moses Gitonga, FCCA, AFM, Dr. Meggie Mwoka, Opeyemi Solaru mutsa kenneth nyatsine, Esohe Igbinoba, Reda LAKHLIFI, Ricardo Pinho, Seyi (Shay) Ogebule, Ph.D, Shuai Zhang, Thabang Wessie, Kgosietsile Thato Matsafu, Urbanus Wambua, Vilma Djala, Wachuka Musomba, Wiatta Thomas, Yunus Ibrahim #dreamvc #ia #africa #venturecapital
