🚀 Excited to share my learnings in Isaac Sim! 🚀 Isaac Sim is a high-fidelity simulation software with incredible use cases, especially in reinforcement learning. One challenge I encountered was successfully importing robot models due to two key reasons: 1️⃣ Isaac Sim only accepts URDF files. 2️⃣ Many GitHub packages for robot models are defined as Xacro files with complex layering. After some investigation, I found a solution that I believe will be helpful for anyone getting started and trying to import their robot model. I used the Xarm 5 as an example, and I’ve documented the process in a YouTube video: https://lnkd.in/gh-D_JK8. A New Theory for Managing Chaotic Systems: The Proposal of Weighted Stochastic Riccati Equations Many systems around us involve inherent "chaos." For instance, in remote robotic control systems that experience random communication delays, designing a control law to achieve a goal, such as moving a robot to a target location, requires considering the chaotic nature of these delays. However, chaotic systems are mathematically challenging to handle, making traditional methods limited in scope, computationally intensive, and lacking generality. To address this issue, Y. Ito from TCRDL, in collaboration with Kyoto University, has developed the Weighted Stochastic Riccati Equation (WSR), a theoretical framework for designing control laws that accommodate diverse goals while accounting for stochastic characteristics. By incorporating "weights" into stochastic elements, the WSR equations enable the design of various control strategies. These strategies range from simple ones that average out the chaos to more complex ones, such as "moving slowly to avoid falling" or "prioritizing speed even at the risk of instability." I used to analyze plasma physics phenomena in nuclear fusion through spectral analysis. Back then, I primarily utilized Fourier analysis and wavelet transforms. However, I also learned about the Wigner distribution, which I never had the chance to use. Its ability to offer high resolution in both time and frequency makes it an intriguing method of analysis, and I was reminded of it recently. The next big thing that may replace diffusion in the field of image generation may be coming -- next-scale prediction. This paper, "Visual Autoregressive Modeling: Scalable Image Generation via Next-Scale Prediction", is probably the most exciting paper I've read so far this year. Like always, I've got you covered with a 🔥1-minute read summary. ● What is VAR about? It proposes a new autoregressive image generation paradigm. Instead of predicting the next image tokens, it predicts the next image scale. ● What is the evaluation task and metric? Task: ImageNet Image Generation Benchmark. Metric: FID and IS. ● Why is it a milestone work? This is the first time that GPT-style image generation has beaten diffusion models on both image quality and inference speed. ● Why it has huge potential? Just like LLM, this model is proven to follow the scaling law. ● What's next? I can already foresee text-control VAR, video-based VAR, VAR for world models, super super-large VAR coming...
