Tokyo AI (TAI) AI in Hardware and Robotics #04 - AI on the Edge A collaboration with Levi Shapiro 🎗, who introduced two startups visiting Japan Automotive World 2025. I'm short on pictures from this session, but top speakers! For our first session of the year, we explored AI on the Edge with neuromorphic chips, next-gen LiDAR, and insights on building hardware startups in Japan. 🧠 Eugene Zetserov (POLYN Technology) shared how Neuromorphic Analog Signal Processing (NASP) chips enable ultra-low-power AI at the edge. 🔦 Yehuda Vidal (Lidwave) introduced 4D coherent LiDAR, showing how Finite Coherent Ranging (FCR) enhances AI-powered automation and perception systems. 🤖 Nick Hafner (Osaka University) discussed model predictive control for multi-rigid-body systems and its potential for universal robot control. 🏭 Daniel Maggs (Prospection) gave a no-nonsense take on hardware startups, emphasizing why AI alone isn’t enough, getting the fundamentals right is key.
