We held our annual Rocket Festival on September 6. IHI Aerospace was established through the merger of IHI’s space division and Nissan Motor’s space division, and this year marks its 25th anniversary. At the Rocket Festival, we organized commemorative events, which were very well attended. This partnership will strengthen Japan’s national security and advance technological collaboration between the UK and Japan. IHI Corporation has entered into a strategic partnership with Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd (SSTL) , the UK’s leading small satellite manufacturer, to jointly develop an Earth observation satellite constellation for Japan. This collaboration will strengthen Japan’s intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities, enhance national security, and promote UK-Japan cooperation in space. The Japanese space agency JAXA successfully launched the 46th S-310 sounding rocket today. It was the first time to directly observe a special ionospheric layer around 100 km above the ground that disrupts radio communications.
