The Zero One Hundred Mediterranean Conference. The #Mediterranean Zero One Hundred Conferences held under the patronage of Comune di Milano and Milano & Partners and hosted at Palazzo Mezzanotte in #Milan today and yesterday was a coming of age initiative to gather #international #PrivateEquity and #VentureCapital fund investors (#LPs) and fund managers (#GPs) from #Europe, #MENA, and #North America interested in the #Mediterranean. It has been since the time of Olivetti that Italy has not had a big player in the IT arena. However, It would be important to improve the reputation in acquisitions processes. The messages to the market, in my opinion, would to be more oriented towards a better moral commitment, this will be Luca Ferrari ‘s great challenge. 🇪🇺 Full room at the InvestEU workshop last night hosted by CEPS (Centre for European Policy Studies) and CDP Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, where I was glad to join the panel discussion. My key takeaways: ✅ InvestEU is a success: in spite of the complexity and the delays experienced, the instrument now delivers on key objectives: (1) open access to public banks across the #EU at European and national levels is now a reality, (2) additionality and market demand are strong and (3) the policy-driven approach bears fruit with key #strategicinvestments supported across the EU. Not an easy balance to find across objectives that can sometimes be contradictory - yet, it works! ✅ Financial capacity is a big issue: more than 85% of the EU guarantee is now allocated while the programme runs until 2027… Innovative ways to adjust the budget are being explored, but there is an urgent need to find budgetary solutions to ensure the programme is not disrupted or discontinued; ✅ InvestEU, across its 4 policy windows, is more relevant than ever, at a time where the EU institutions explore how to address #competitiveness of our economy. Under the next MFF, effectiveness of #InvestEU could be enhanced by streamlining processes and embedding the programme into the bigger competitiveness agenda. Building on what has been achieved to date, especially in the design of the instrument, will be crucial to ensure potential of the programme is used at its fullest. An Italian team led by partner Annalisa Dentoni-Litta has advised BPER Banca S.p.A., on a new issuance of a €500m fixed-rate European Covered Bond with maturity date in 2029, under its €7bn Estense Covered Bond Programme. It marks the issuance of the third series of European Covered Bond (Premium) made by BPER Banca in compliance with the new national and European regime on covered bonds. #KKR #ENI Alternative asset and private equity investor KKR announced the acquisition of a 25% stake in Enilive, the mobility transformation and biofuels-focused business of Italian energy company Eni, for €2.94 billion (USD$3.2 billion), valuing the unit at $12.8 billion. Eni launched the Enilive brand in 2023, with the goal of offering integrated services and products that are progressively decarbonized by 2050, converging the company’s mobility activities, including its biorefining and biomethane assets, and smart mobility solutions, as well as the distribution of mobility energy carriers through its more than 5,000 Enilive Stations in Europe.
