🎙️ Dedalus and Ardian Unite to Strengthen Workplace Safety with the POSH Initiative At Dedalus, we are committed to building a work culture that prioritizes safety, respect, and #inclusivity. 🎧Recently, our Group Deputy General Counsel and D&I Committee member, Maria Chiara A., joined Nadine Zariffa, Senior Investment Manager and D&I Committee member at Ardian, on the podcast "Diverso sarà lei" to discuss sexual harassment regulations in the workplace, with a particular focus on Dedalus’ recent POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) initiative in India. 🇮🇳 The Dedalus #POSH Committee in India: A Model for Workplace Safety. Our first POSH Committee, established in India, represents a critical step in reinforcing employee #protection. India’s POSH Act requires companies with over 10 employees to create a dedicated committee to address sexual harassment complaints. Our POSH Committee includes representatives who are not only aligned with local regulations but also committed to fair, compassionate resolution processes. As the podcast highlighted, this initiative reflects Dedalus’ commitment to supporting employees worldwide in environments where they can work free from #harassment. 🌍 Expanding Workplace Safety Best Practices Internationally. Maria Chiara and Nadine also explored similar initiatives across Europe and beyond, underscoring that workplace #safety requires continuous effort and adaptation to cultural and legal differences. Here are some of the pillars we’ve established to support our international workforce: - ✅ Code of Ethics: Dedalus has implemented a Code of Ethics that promotes a #healthy work environment and allows anonymous reporting through a dedicated whistleblowing channel, ensuring that every employee has a safe space to voice concerns. - 📊 ESG and Equal Opportunity Monitoring: As part of our #ESG commitment, we have KPIs focused on equal opportunity and workplace harassment, helping us track progress and hold ourselves accountable. - 🤝 D&I Committee Initiatives: Our D&I Committee drives policies, training, and best practices to foster an inclusive culture. This is part 3 of my series on 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹-𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗗𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗠𝗕𝗗). Today’s topic is how product and manufacturing information (PMI) and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) integrate into the 3D model. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗣𝗠𝗜 𝗶𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗠𝗕𝗗? PMI is the backbone of MBD. It includes all the non-geometric information necessary to manufacture and inspect a product, such as dimensions, tolerances, notes, and material specifications. In MBD, this information is embedded directly into the 3D model. There are two types of PMI: • Semantic PMI: Machine-readable data that can be used directly by CAM and CMM systems. This is very helpful data for all kind of automations in manufacturing and QA.  • Graphical PMI: Visual representation of the information for human interpretation which help humans to read the 3d model similar to a 2d drawing 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗚𝗗&𝗧 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗔𝗗 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹? In MBD, GD&T is applied directly to the 3D model using annotation tools in CAD software. Instead of traditional drawing views, MBD uses: • saved views to capture specific orientations and PMI visibility • clipping planes • annotation planes for organizing PMI • combination states, layers and much more 𝗦𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗻𝗼 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗿𝗮𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲? Not quite. While MBD aims to eliminate the need for 2D drawings, many shop floors and suppliers still rely on them. The good news? Most MBD-capable CAD systems can (semi-automatically) generate 2D drawings from the 3D model when needed. Interestingly, the "no drawings" aspect is often the biggest argument against MBD. We account for 4 Industrial revolutions, but it is difficult to agree on what marked those revolutions, since industry has come way more disruptive changes than only four. In any case, most recently I have been reading about Space Manufacturing (InSPA, or ISM). As the cost of space access decreases, thanks to private companies investing in space-logistics, the feasibility of large-scale space manufacturing grows and becomes more a reality every day. Will this be the catalyst of I4.0 or will this trigger the I5.0?  Space manufacturing is leveraging the unique environment of space to produce materials and technologies that outperform their Earth-made counterparts. Microgravity plays a pivotal role, enabling the production of high-quality materials in which sectors like healthcare, semiconductors and communications have already done plenty of research and have demonstrated commercial scale is possible.   I am very interested to see how fast this becomes a reality (because I am sure it is just matter of time) and see how industries adapt to this new industrial revolution.
