🎉 Golden Lion Award at Biennale Architettura 2025 🚰 Canal Café wins the Leone d’Oro for best participation at the 19. Mostra Internazionale di Architettura – Intelligens. Natural. Artificial. Collective., curated by Carlo Ratti. Canal Café is not just an installation – it's a symbol. We turned water from the canals of Venice into high-quality espresso. But the real transformation is cultural — and urgently needed. This project is a small but powerful gesture: • closing the water loop • restoring value to water • raising awareness for more conscious use 💧 Any kind of water can be regenerated and returned to the community with value. The future must be #circular. But to build real solutions, we need innovation, technical expertise and vision. As part of Nijhuis Saur Industries and the @Saur Group, with SODAI S.p.A. and Natural Systems Utilities, we brought not only technological know-how, but an industrial culture that puts responsibility at the center. That’s our #MissionWater. 🌍 This recognition honors a collective vision. We are proud to share it with our inspiring partners: Diller Scofidio + Renfro Natural Systems Utilities Aaron Betsky Davide Oldani 📣 As The New York Times writes: “A symbolically rich and scientifically advanced act of transformation and trust.” 🙏 Thank you to the International Jury: Hans Ulrich Obrist, Paola Antonelli, Mpho Matsipa — and to all those who believed in this vision. And thanks to Webuild, Lavazza Group and INDAM Laboratori - Groupe Carso for supporting the initiative! 💫 A special thanks to our incredible teams — engineers, operators, designers… and visionaries — because results like this come from shared effort, rust and the courage to believe in a common vision. 📚 Other articles linked in the comments #CanalCafé #GoldenLion2025 #BiennaleArchitettura2025 #IntelliGens #WaterPositive #CircularFuture

Simple. Routine. But what if that coffee could challenge how we see the world—and our most essential resource? We’re proud to announce that Canal Café, a visionary project led by Nijhuis Saur Industries (NSI) part of SAUR, Natural Systems Utilities and SODAI S.p.A. in collaboration with Diller Scofidio + Renfro (DS+R), has won the Golden Lion Award at the 19th Venice Biennale — one of the world’s highest honors in architecture and sustainability. Canal Cafe is an initiative supported by Webuild group, curated by Carlo Ratti, designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro in collaboration with Natural Systems Utilities, SODAI, Aaron Betsky and Davide Oldani. So what makes Canal Café different? ☕ It turns canal water into espresso — using advanced water treatment technology designed by NSI. 💧 It’s a living, working installation that demonstrates how even the most unexpected water sources can be purified and reused safely and beautifully. 🛠️ Born from a concept unveiled at Aquatech Amsterdam, Canal Café invites visitors to taste innovation firsthand and rethink the possibilities of urban sustainability. As Menno M. Holterman, states: “Canal Café is a symbol of our commitment to rethink water solutions for resilient and vibrant cities and communities around the globe.” Aaron Betsky, Davide Oldani, Webuild, Zach Gallagher, Marzia Chiesa, Gabriele Rostagno #GoldenLion #VeniceBiennale #CanalCafe #WaterReuse #NSI #MissionWater #CircularEconomy #Innovation #UrbanDesign #SustainableArchitecture
