Collective., curated by Carlo Ratti. Canal Café is not just an installation – it's a symbol. We turned water from the canals of Venice into high-quality espresso. But the real transformation is cultural — and urgently needed. This project is a small but powerful gesture: • closing the water loop • restoring value to water • raising awareness for more conscious use 💧 Any kind of water can be regenerated and returned to the community with value. The future must be #circular. But to build real solutions, we need innovation, technical expertise and vision. Canal Café: Goldener Löwe für trinkbare Architektur. Und: guter Espresso. Das Canal Café – Gewinner des Goldenen Löwen auf der Architekturbiennale 2025 – ist mehr als eine Installation. Es ist Bar, Labor, Wasserkreislauf und Statement zugleich. Im Arsenale wird Kanalwasser direkt aus der Lagune gefiltert, gereinigt und zu Espresso verarbeitet. Der gesamte Prozess ist sichtbar – in durchsichtigen Behältern lässt sich der Reinigungsgrad Schritt für Schritt verfolgen: vom trüben Anfang bis zum klaren Endprodukt. Das Wasser durchläuft biologische Vorfilterung, dann Osmose, dann UV-Licht. Am Ende: Espresso mit leicht mineralischer Note – und ja, er schmeckt. Ich habe ihn für 1,50€ probiert, während ich im Schatten der (künstlich geschaffenen) Bauminsel saß. Übrigens auch wunderbar zur Nachahmung für versiegelte Flächen empfohlen! Gestaltet wurde das alles von Diller Scofidio + Renfro, mit Natural Systems Utilities, SODAI S.p.A. Aaron Betsky und Davide Oldani. Was hängen bleibt: Architektur kann konkret werden. Es geht nicht um Symbolik, sondern um reale Prozesse. Hier vorgeführt in einem offenen System, das auch außerhalb von Ausstellungen funktioniert – und zum Nachbauen gedacht ist. #BiennaleArchitettura2025 #waskannkunst
