We are thrilled to share the progress of Prysmian Alessandro Volta, our latest and most innovative vessel to join Prysmian's incomparable fleet of 8 vessels. The vessel will be ready in 2027. This cutting-edge vessel boasts three carousels with a total capacity of 19,500 tonnes, making it one of the highest cable loading capacity vessels in the market. Eastern Green Link 1: construction underway on subsea electricity superhighway. Prysmian will deliver the first 525 kV HVDC XLPE submarine cable system in the UK, for the 190km route between England and Scotland Eastern Green Link 1will help expand the grid for the future and support long-term local development for regional communities playing host to the critical electricity infrastructure.

The offshore installation activties of the Tyrrhenian Link are just commenced with our state of the art cable laying vessel Leonardo da Vinci. For Prysmian, but also for the entire sector, this is a record installation: for the first time, an HVDC cable will be laid at a depth of 2,150 meters, setting new market standards. Tyrrhenian Link is one of the most strategically important electrical infrastructures in the country that will connect Sicily and Campania. Terna SpA

Yesterday, Cinzia Farisè Prysmian Power Grid Executive VP and Massimo Bartolucci Enel Group Head of Network Engineering and Development Innovation shared the stage at the first edition of the E.DSO FutureGrid Innovation Summit in Brussels to discuss how green innovation will drive the sustainable grids that are already being put into place to secure a greener, securer energy network across Europe. Cinzia explored how three key elements: reducing the carbon footprint, powering the energy transition through progress in efficiency and boosting reliability will be essential to ensure that the Grid is set-up for future demand, while taking advantage of technological progress and a sustainable approach to raw materials. Through the combination of monitoring services, a planet-sensitive supply chain and research driven advances in efficiency the grid will be purposes to handle the increased electricity demand, that is foreseen to cover 60% of final energy consumption in Europe by 2050, in line with the European Commission's ambitions. Cinzia Farisè: "We came to this meeting as a partner, naturally, with Enel. We are both major players in building a grid today that will be fit for the future thanks to advances in monitoring to enable security, in efficiency to help reduce costs for end-users, while, just as importantly, reducing the environmental impact of the Grid and the materials that make it without compromising anything on the journey. Innovation and Sustainability will always be the at the core of our business. Prysmian’s proprietary P-Laser is an innovative cable solution manufactured using thermoplastic compound, fully developed in-house. P-Laser can perform at higher temperatures compared to traditional cables, boosting power up by 30%. The absence of any gaseous by-product during manufacturing makes the insulation intrinsically safer for DC applications. Combined with the material recyclability, it brings CO2 emissions down by 30% compared to a standard DC cable. The system has been successfully tested at 600 kV DC, further proofing the quality and robustness of the P-Laser insulation technology. #Plaser #cables #innovation #sustainability

Prysmian has just started offshore installation operations for Dominion Energy’s 2.6 GW Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind in the US with Prysmian’s Cable Enterprise cable laying vessel. The project will be a critical resource for a clean energy future in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Once fully operational, the offshore wind farm will be capable of supplying clean, reliable renewable power to up to 660,000 households.
