Chi siamo

Founded on ESA-ESTEC grounds back in 2008, MetaSensing is a young and vibrant company designing, manufacturing and marketing a diverse array of end-to-end, customizable radar systems known for their small size and ingenious architectures. MetaSensing has full control of every subsystem composing our radars. This unique know-how enables MetaSensing to design products with on-demand specifications (like space mission demonstrators), or with features not yet commercially available from other competitors. All products are continuously subject to both incremental and radical improvements, placing them at the leading edge of the commercial market. Continuously morphing knowledge into robust and reliable real-world radars, MetaSensing has manufactured airborne SAR systems at different frequencies (P, L, C, X, Ku, Ka) at multiple interferometric and polarimetric channels for virtually any known SAR application: land cover classification at L-band, forest biomass estimation and FOPEN at P-band, dual-frequency/tomographic imaging of ice and snow structure at Ku-X-band and Ku-L-band, X-band moving target indicators. In more recent years, the company has transcended the boundaries of airborne SAR to expand to ground-based SAR systems for deformation monitoring (FastGBSAR), solid-state, fully polarimetric weather radar systems at X and Ka bands, as well as ground-based military surveillance and tracking systems. We are not done yet. The best part lies ahead of us. We are intrigued by the new possibilities offered by fully electronic antennas, GPU parallel processing powers, data visualisation technologies and waveform diversity.

✈️ Solid Partnership, Successful Delivery: MetaSensing and #AVCON in South Asia MetaSensing is proud to announce the successful deployment of its cutting-edge airborne radar systems for a strategic client in South Asia, reinforcing a key international partnership with U.S.-based special mission aviation expert AVCON Industries. The integration of the X-band Guardian and P-band MetaSAR radars onto a Cessna 208B was completed in March 2025. This milestone follows a successful Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) in late 2024 and marks a major step forward in MetaSensing’s global expansion and operational capabilities. Working in close collaboration with AVCON, MetaSensing executed a seamless integration and validation campaign, from structural assessments and antenna placement to FAA-certified modifications and final flight testing. All technical and performance benchmarks were met, and the systems are now fully operational. This achievement demonstrates MetaSensing’s ability to deliver high-performance SAR technology through strategic partnerships, meeting demanding project timelines and specifications. To mark this milestone, we’re sharing insights from key team members and partners behind the success. Marco Samuele Radaelli, Project Leader at MetaSensing, oversaw technical planning and coordination. He shared his thoughts on the project’s significance: “A great team result: this complex radar project, with tight integration and international collaboration, was delivered on time and with full customer satisfaction, proof of our strong solutions and professional approach.” On the aviation side, we worked closely with AVCON Industries to ensure seamless integration of our airborne radar system. Christian J. Vila, Vice President of Business Development at AVCON Industries, shared his perspective on the collaboration: “We were proud to assist MetaSensing in adapting the Cessna 208B platform with electrical and mechanical provisions for advanced payloads. From structural modifications to flight operations, this project exemplified technical synergy, culminating in the FAA-approved STC SA04639CH. The results speak for themselves, and we look forward to more collaborations like this in the future.” Looking ahead, Adriano Meta, CEO and Founder of MetaSensing, highlighted the broader impact of this success: “This successful deployment strengthens our position in international airborne SAR integration and opens the door to new challenges. We are now well positioned to undertake ambitious mapping and surveillance projects in Southeast Asia, where SAR technology can play a critical role in generating Digital Elevation Models (DEMs), penetrating dense forest environments, and providing consistent, high-resolution imaging capabilities in all weather conditions.” This integration represents not only a technical success but also a proud milestone for the entire MetaSensing team. #GUARDIAN #MetaSARP #AVCON #SAR #SyntethicApertureRadar

🛰️ MetaSensing’s PhoeniX SAR Payload Gears Up for Launch   MetaSensing is proud to unveil a significant milestone in the development of its cutting-edge radar payload, PhoeniX, which is now progressing rapidly toward deployment aboard a foreign satellite SAR constellation. As a compact, high-performance X-band Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) system, PhoeniX represents a new benchmark in small satellite payload technology. It is designed to deliver up to half a meter resolution imagery in multiple acquisition modes, including Stripmap and Spotlight, enabling high-fidelity Earth observation across a wide range of applications, from environmental monitoring and agriculture to defense and infrastructure intelligence. The radar electronics and antenna architecture have been optimized for low power consumption, reduced mass, and maximum versatility, making PhoeniX ideal for new space missions that demand agile and efficient payloads without compromising performance. As part of the rigorous development cycle, PhoeniX has recently completed its STM (Structural and Thermal Model) and QM (Qualification Model) validation phase, successfully passing mechanical vibration tests that simulate launch stresses and thermal vacuum tests to verify performance and structural integrity under space-like environmental conditions. These tests were essential in confirming that the mechanical design and thermal management systems of the payload are ready for the next critical step. With the STM test campaign now concluded, the MetaSensing team has moved on to the final integration of the Proto-Flight Model (PFM), which is undergoing final assembly, functional testing, and environmental qualification to ensure full compliance with space mission requirements. Delivery of the PFM is scheduled for Q2 2025, marking a decisive moment in the mission timeline. This achievement is not just technical, it is symbolic of MetaSensing’s relentless pursuit of excellence, from engineering precision instruments to delivering mission-ready systems in tight timelines. “The PhoeniX payload reflects years of research, development, and commitment to excellence. We are proud to see it taking shape as part of such a visionary project,” said Adriano Meta, MetaSensing’s CEO. “Our collaboration with satellite SAR constellation owners highlights the global nature of today’s space missions, and we’re excited to see PhoeniX become a cornerstone of a new SAR constellation.” As PhoeniX moves closer to launch, MetaSensing remains focused on delivering innovation from the lab to orbit, one payload at a time. As the countdown to delivery continues, PhoeniX stands as a powerful symbol of what can be achieved when global talent, advanced engineering, and a shared vision come together with purpose. #SAR #SyntheticApertureRadar #PhoeniX #Space #NewSpace
