CSI Case File No. 256

Hello Friends!

This month the Imagine Artist Team is joining up with CSI Challenge blog to share a bit of inspiration. I was assigned case file #256 to try to solve the case (shown below) and this is what I came up with...

I was so excited about this as I had the perfect stamps to go with "The Scene" and since we like to travel so I thought the inspiration was the perfect way to celebrate how we "camp" on road trips!  You see, our idea of camping is the Holiday Inn, Marriott, Hampton Inn and Suites, etc.  The photos are from a trip earlier this year when we had to stop in Harrisburg/Hershey area during a pop up snowstorm. We lucked out and got the last room available at Spring Hill Suites and it was beautiful to boot!

My inspiration from Case File No. 256 was "The Scene", Colors, Banners and more.

These stamps from Just For Fun Stamps went with the theme perfectly!!

And I had this Club Scrap "Road Trip" stamp that worked out so well...
I also used a map and travel sign stamps to create various background pieces as well...

Hope this inspires you to pull out your stamps, inks and photos to scrap your travels.

Trattoria Blog Hop

Welcome to December's Club Scrap Blog Ho
featuring the great foodie themed kit - Trattoria!

Before I get to my project I would like to take a moment to say Farewell and Thank You to you all as this is the final month the Club Scrap Artist Team will share it's creations with you. It means so much when you stop by to see what I have dreamed up each month.  I would like to also extend a hearty Thank You!! to Tricia and Club Scrap for everything they have allowed us to do over our past term. It's been such fun and I have enjoyed it all!

I never really thought of myself as a foodie before but when I saw the kit I knew instantly what I wanted to make (I love it when that happens!).  Our family LOVES to eat...we enjoy trying new restaurants and when we find a favorite we are very loyal.  We have several favorites that we visit as often as possible.  This album was created with those favorites in mind!

The album style is more of a junk journal type thing with all sorts of pages sizes made from a variety of materials (mostly found chipboard pieces).  Making it this way will allow me to add more favorites as we find them without having to stress over finding exactly the same page format.

The inside page explains a bit about what the album is about...
Best Ever :)

(Oley's Pizza - Ft. Wayne, IN)

There's lots of stamping, hand written notes and several pages have typed up stories of how we found the place, where it's located along with what we love about it and/or fond memories.  I also included photos of either the restaurant it's self, signage and of course the food!

(Industrial Revolution - Valporaiso, IN)

I used hidden journaling on many of the pages - not because I didn't want anyone to read about it but because even typed our stories were too long to fit on the pages.  Hope you enjoy....

(Shady Maple Amish Smorgasbord - East Earl, PA)

(The Whistle Stop - Glendale, KY)

(Don Chava's - Fort Wayne, IN)

(4 Seasons Diner - Bryan, OH)

(Turkey Lake Tavern - Elmira, IN)

(The Beef House - Covington, IN)

(Royal Donut - Danville, IL)
(Round the Clock Diner - Valporaiso, IN)

(Coney Island - Fort Wayne, IN)

(Seyfert's Potato Chip Factory - previously Fort Wayne, IN)

(Godfather's Pizza - previously Fort Wayne, IN)

Hope this inspires you to create your own fun food memories album!

One Layer Creations

This month the Club Scrap Artist Team was challenged to make one layer creations! Today I made a layout that is totally one layer - well, except for the photos of course.  It was so much fun coming up with different ways to add texture and depth to the lo.

I started off by measuring the photos I wanted to use and marked out where I wanted them to be with pencil.

Next came the barn, fence and windmill all stamped with onyx black ink.  I used black because I really wanted these images to pop to the foreground when the layout was finished.

I then tore a piece of scrap paper in half and used the jagged edge to create the grass/soil areas around the barn and windmill. The sky was then inked in.  I used more than one color for each to help create depth between the lights and dark inks.  Also, I don't know if you can see it or not but the cardstock has a pattern embedded into the paper which really pops where there is lots of ink - it shows up really well in the brown areas and a bit in the grass.  This adds a totally unexpected dimension that you wouldn't normally get with plain old cardstock.

An additional "layer" was added by stamping the text image with both light and dark brown inks.  I kept the darker ink along the bottom in the "dirt" areas to help ground the image and used the lighter color elsewhere.

Next step was to add the photos followed by stamping both the large and small wheat stalks to help frame the photos.

As the finishing touch I added splatters of metallic watercolor paint, which adds a nice shimmer IRL.

I hope you've enjoyed your stop here and my one layer scrapbook layout.

I Do

Today I have the final layout from the wedding album... I DO.  These are photos of the kids during the ceremony.....

This is more Club Scrap cardstock, stamps, cut-aparts and embellishments from the kit - Color Me Happy. I absolutely loved this kit! Of course blue is my favorite color and it matched the guys vests perfectly but that paired with the black and silver...it is just so classy looking.

Since the prints and accent papers I used were so bright I printed the photos B&W to really make them pop. I didn't want any of the background to distract from Bob and Morgan.  I think it worked out well.

I just love how it turned out!
So there you go...
I hope you enjoyed seeing my foray into scrapbooking after years of absence.
It was so nice to give it a go.

MFT - Alpha Dies

Gettin' Ready to Party...

Today I wanted to share another wedding layout. These photos are of us decorating the church Friday afternoon. Morgan, Bob, Maddie (Morgan's sister) and I cleaned, made decorations, set up all the chairs and tables before the rehearsal. We had lots of fun and I was so proud of how Bob chipped right in and did what he could.   He did volunteer to fill the candy dishes that were on each table...not sure if more went in the bowls or his mouth - LOL!!

The papers are all Club Scrap, I used MFT dies to cut the title.  I am so happy to say that I've had those rosettes for YEARS and I finally used them.  The colors matched the papers perfectly - I was so tickled - it's like I planned it ;)  LOL!!

We also set up the kitchen in the annex for the reception the next day.   It made it so nice to have everything laid out the night before - all we had to do Wedding day a.m. was put everything in it's proper roaster/crock pot and let it simmer. All of the buns, pops, salads and chips had their designated spots as well so when something arrived we didn't have to fuss. Made it all such a nice smooth event. I have to say I really enjoyed it, I love organizing so this was loads of fun for me.

Above to the bottom right you can see a photo of the card box/cake I made along with a "J" Johnson Canvas. I really enjoyed making both but that wedding cake card box got lots of nice comments. Everyone seemed to love it.

CSI - Major Case File #231

I'm excited to say that the Imagine crew was invited to be guest detectives at CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration challenge blog!  Here is the case file I was assigned...

If you've never visited the blog before or worked on one of the Case Files, you are given bits and pieces to inspire your entire lay-out. The scene is the initial inspiration, with cues given in the Evidence portion.  You get a color scheme and sketch to help you along.  It's lots of fun, if you've never tried it before you should...I had a blast "following the clues".   Here's what I came up with...

My best 4 legged friend...Graber Barker - mild mannered dog by day, SUPER DOG by night!  He's not only my furry friend but he's also my 12" tall guard dog ;)  LOL!!  He doesn't let anyone get near me when he doesn't think they should be, including Eric!  Not even for a little peck on the cheek.  He's very protective of his mama.

A few close up's showing some of my Evidence....I tried to follow the sketch pretty carefully and I used stars, hearts, the white background, twine, speech bubbles and more.  I loved the medallions from the sketch so I made a couple to help pop up the main photo giving it a bit more prominence.

I used Lady Bug and Dandelion irRESISTible Texture Spray on the background for some fun splatter.  I also found some little turquoise, butter yellow, red and royal blue sequins to add some fun.  The stars are die-cut using a Seth Apter set of dies.

I found some great turquoise pattern paper with tiny stars on it but needed some yellow pattern paper....I didn't have any so I ended up making my own.  I stamped the stars on the yellow cardstock using VersaMark ink and embossed it with clear EP.  Just what I needed!

I hope you've been inspired to give this fun challenge a go!

Imagine - irRESISTible Texture Spray - Lady Bug, Dandelion; Memento Dual Tip Markers (journaling); On Point Glue; VersaMark; Clear EP

Club Scrap Adirondacks Blog Hop

Hey all - welcome to May's Club Scrap Blog Hop celebrating the awesome kit - Adirondacks! I can't tell you how excited I am about this kit. The colors, images, papers, everything about it is so versatile, down to earth and just plain me! I couldn't ask for anything more.

I made 3 different layouts using various pieces of this kit which I'm very excited to share with you (finally!!).  Here we go -

My guys getting ready... they clean up pretty good!

This is the church where we had the wedding and reception. It has a nice little annex with a kitchen, bathrooms and a basement (where the guys got ready). Morgan's grandparents used to have a farm adjoining this property so she's grown up around it and was thrilled to be able to have the wedding here.

Finally, my favorite layout...  I have had the wooden Mr & Mrs piece since I found out they were getting married.  I knew I'd use it at some point for something and I'm so glad I had it. It meshed with this kit perfectly.  The arrows were added using the funky stencil included in the kit which I inked with Club Scraps white pigment ink.

I also had these "wedding rings" in my stash as well...those I've had for years and years. I've used them from time to time on wedding cards I've made but I finally got to use them on a very special layout.  The raffia was included in the kit as well.

These are some of the "fancy" pictures the kids had taken after the ceremony. They were my favorites of the bunch.

You can see they were spelling LOVE with their fingers.

I hope you've enjoyed the layouts I have created, I had such fun with this kit...I wish I had 3 or 4 more of these kits so I could just continue to create. It's amazing how inspired you get when creating with such lovely papers.

The Dress Layouts

Thought I'd continue to share a couple more layouts from the wedding book.  These ones all center around the dress.

The first layout contains photos of all of the different dresses Morgan tried on. Several members of her family were present as well as Mom and I.  Of course everyone had their favorites that they wanted her to try on. After a couple exhausting hours she chose the very first dress she tried on - LOL!!

Of course you can tell I wrote out part of the title...just wish I would have used pencil lines so it wasn't a bit crooked.  Oh well...it still tells the story I wanted it to.

David's Bridal has the bride ring a bell when she's chosen "The Dress".  This was a photo of her ringing the bell with her veil, dress, jewelry and all.  I included a photo of the girl who helped with all of the changes, accessories and questions.  She was great.

This LO are just a few pics of after she chose the dress....

I left room for her to journal on both sets of LO's so she could add her thoughts.

These were some of my favorite lo's because it was such a memorable day. Since I don't have any girls of my own this was very special to me to be invited to enjoy such a joyful event.
