Rohit Krishna wanted nothing but to break into the PE/VC world, after he qualified as a CA in 2011. Unfortunately, many funds turned him down for being too young. Fast forward to 2017 – he co-launched WEH Ventures with a Fund 1 of ₹20 Crores. It wasn't exactly easy to convince the investors. The largest healthcare company in India is Apollo Hospitals that has a market cap of $10billion. The largest healthcare company in US is United Health group that has a market cap of $486billion. There is an opportunity for 10-15 billion dollar healthcare companies to build in India and grow in next decade. Maybe not in US. The opportunity in India could be to think beyond primary and secondary care. And use technology to integrate different components and stakeholders of healthcare ecosystem.

Fortis is set to shell out a whopping Rs 1,780 crore to buy out private equity investors in Agilus, its struggling diagnostic arm. Agilus was supposed to complement Fortis’ hospital business and capture a larger share of India’s growing diagnostics market. Inflexor Ventures Achieves First Close of Rs 350 Crore Opportunities Fund Inflexor Ventures, a prominent early-stage venture capital firm, has announced the first close of its new Opportunities Fund, targeting a total corpus of Rs 350 crore. The fund reached approximately 80% of its goal with substantial backing from HDFC AMC Select AIF FoF I Scheme, managed by HDFC AMC, as the lead investor. Additional contributions came from high-net-worth individuals, family offices, corporates, and other institutional investors. Inflexor’s strategy for the Opportunities Fund focuses on further supporting its high-growth portfolio companies and selectively investing in new tech-driven ventures. The fund is set to close by the end of this month, with deployment plans over the next 3-5 years. This growth in deal activity underscores the continued interest and confidence in India's startup ecosystem. However, total investments did experience a dip, reaching $1.7 billion across 64 deals, marking a 49% decrease compared to June and the lowest value of deals this year. Japan’s Mizuho Financial Group is in discussions to acquire a portion of KKR’s stake in financial services unicorn InCred Finance at a premium to its most recent valuation of $1.2 Bn. Global investment firm KKR may divest around 10% of its stake in the Mumbai-based tech-driven non-banking finance company (NBFC), though this may change depending on how the talks progress. The negotiations are being held for a premium of up to 30-40% over the $1.2 Bn valuation at which InCred raised $60 Mn in December 2023.
