Ensuring recovery of critical battery minerals so they can be used over and over again To ensure EVB traceability and recovery, countries around the world are developing or implementing systems requiring the use of digital identifiers, usually QR codes, also referred to as "Battery Passports," to provide those who engage an EV battery with valuable data on materials origin, state of health and chain of custody to evidence final recycling. Since cars are imported and exported across the globe for sale, it is critical that the data to be shared by battery and auto manufacturers and accessed by users is harmonized. Rivian Automotive (NASDAQ:RIVN) surged in postmarket trading on Tuesday by 50% after announcing plans to form a joint venture with Volkswagen (OTCPK:VLKAF). This partnership aims to develop next-gen electrical architecture and top-tier software technology. The collaboration is expected to speed up software development and reduce costs by combining both companies' strengths. Rivian will contribute its electrical architecture expertise and license its intellectual property to the joint venture. Vehicles using this technology are planned for launch in the latter half of the decade. In the short term, Volkswagen will use Rivian's current electrical architecture and software platform. Volkswagen will invest $5 billion in Rivian, starting with a $1 billion unsecured convertible note that will convert to common stock upon regulatory approval or by December 1, 2024. An additional $4 billion investment will follow. Rivian's shares jumped 50% in after-hours trading, and Amazon (AMZN), which holds a 17% stake in Rivian, is also impacted by this development.

If General Motors, the remaining automakers, and non-auto industry fully autonomous development companies had done their jobs properly in pre-testing Fully Autonomous Vehicles (FAVs), there would have been no need for Human Safety Backups! The greatest mistake was not perfecting the technology on Closed-Loop Test Tracks before deploying it on the Street for Artificial Intelligence (AI) learning.
