A framework to approach disagreement in Negotiations borrowed from "Why Are We Yelling" by Buster Benson TLDR: Anxiety, due to disagreement, has three realms i.e. facts, meanings, and utility. Figure out which and solve for that. Don't be stuck on different plains of realms. 🧠 💓 ✋ "The easiest thing you can do to have a more productive disagreement is to ask people " Is this about what's #true or what's #meaningful or what's #useful". If you can agree on the answer, then you are on your way. It is useful to pay attention to which realms we are operating in. Is it about what is true (realms of information, science, facts) or it is about meanings (realms of preferences and values) or utility (realms of planning, practicality, execution)? Each of them represents a part of reality that has its own rules for validation and different implications in a conversation.
