Interesting article by Anurag Behar! He talks about 4 things that donors insist on, which drive the fakeness and flakiness of the NGOs - greater push for scale, instant visibility of definitive changes, the demand for speed and the permanence of change. Particularly liked this line (pure savage :D) "The fourth requirement is of permanence or sustainability of change. This arises from a basic misunderstanding of the world. Nothing can be sustained without working at it continuously." There is a call for donors to think longterm, but short term or long term thinking needs significant understanding which most donors are unwilling to spend time on. But good to see these issues being brought up.

"While the non-West in International Relations discipline and academic debates largely reflect an imperative for inclusiveness and diversity in teaching and research, it seems to serve a very distinct purpose in the policy world. By championing the non-West and dismantling the narratives of anti-West, New Delhi seems to be operationalising its balancing act, and the practice of strategic autonomy to manage its rise amid partnerships straddling the West and the non-West."...I write "The Curious Case of Non-West" for Telangana Today... Atishi Marlena to Lead Delhi: AAP's Vision for the Capital Post-Kejriwal Readmore: https://lnkd.in/eMfsnajm The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is preparing for a significant transition in Delhi’s political leadership. With Arvind Kejriwal's resignation and the announcement of Atishi Marlena as the next Chief Minister, AAP has shifted into election mode for both Delhi and Haryana. The swearing-in ceremony of Atishi and five ministers is scheduled for September 21, 2024, marking the beginning of a new era for the party in Delhi Atishi Marlena: The New Face of AAP Leadership Atishi Marlena, a key figure in AAP's education reforms, is set to take over as the Chief Minister of Delhi. Her appointment comes at a time when the party is navigating multiple challenges, both internally and externally. Known for her work in improving Delhi's public school system, Atishi has been one of AAP’s most visible and respected leaders, which makes her a strong candidate to lead the party into its next phase. Atishi will be joined by five ministers in her cabinet: 1. Gopal Rai – Known for his role in labor and employment issues. 2. Saurabh Bhardwaj – A key player in AAP’s health and governance initiatives. 3. Kailash Gehlot – Overseeing transport and infrastructure. 4. Imran Hussain – Focused on environmental issues. 5. Mukesh Ahlawat – A relative newcomer but expected to bring fresh energy to the cabinet. The Empty Seat: A Strategic Decision Interestingly, AAP has chosen to leave one cabinet seat vacant, sparking speculation about the internal power dynamics within the party. This move has raised questions about who will eventually fill this position, and whether it reflects deeper divisions among AAP's leadership. Kejriwal has always been a shrewd strategist, and it is possible that the vacant seat is part of his larger plan to manage expectations and maintain control over the party. Several names have been floated for the vacant ministerial seat, with prominent AAP members like Rakhi Birla, Kuldeep Kumar, and Ravi from Karol Bagh being mentioned as possible contenders. However, Kejriwal’s strategy of keeping the position open has left many within the party dissatisfied, leading to tensions among senior leaders who had hoped to be included in the cabinet.... 🌱 Proud to share our impactful work! 💼 As we gear up for the upcoming elections in #India it's crucial to address the pressing needs of the citizens. Despite promises made, many villages in #Delhi still lack basic infrastructure and facilities. The flagship schemes of the Prime Minister aren't implemented. Our team is committed to bridging this gap and advocating for tangible change. 🏗️ Through our initiatives, we've been working tirelessly to improve the quality of life in #village areas. From advocating for better roads and #sanitation to pushing for essential services like hospitals and colleges, we are dedicated to uplift the villages in the national capital that are ignored by the #city planners & the administration. 🤝 Collaboration is key in driving meaningful progress. We've engaged with local stakeholders, the villagers to understand their needs and advocate to ensure implementation of sustainable solutions. Together, we're building stronger, more vibrant villages that everyone can be proud of and the youth don't feel embarrassed or hateful about their own roots. 🗳️ As we approach the polls, let's remember the importance of prioritizing local development. Every voice matters, and every vote counts. Together, let's continue to strive for a better, more inclusive future for all. #VillageDevelopment #CommunityEmpowerment #Elections2024 #India #Indians #government #urban #city #rural #village #natives https://lnkd.in/ggmvQeBz

'India to date has therefore been viewed more as a soft power and cultural partner by most Southeast Asian nations, not a strategic partner. As India becomes bolder and more proactive in its foreign policy ... it needs to move beyond these existing areas of cooperation and signal more clearly the underlying objectives and aspirations behind the Act East policy, and what kind of partnership India seeks to achieve in Southeast Asia. 'All of this represents a clear shift, attributable to the fact that the Act East policy now drives India’s Indo-Pacific vision. The developments send a message that India is ready to embark on a strategic and defence partnership not just with the Philippines but perhaps, over time, with other Southeast Asian nations as well, reflecting India’s growing ambitions as a global power and the leading voice of the Global South. 'A one-size-fits-all approach does not work in Southeast Asia, as this region is very diverse, especially in its foreign policy orientation and perceptions'. https://lnkd.in/gSsAE-BE

Why Arts & Humanities education is vital for sustenance and progress of human society that has been pushed over the edge for human extinction due to unbalanced emphasis towards Science & Technology 1. Excess money is destroying the climate and ecology and stealing the future of youth and children. 2. A minimum money is needed for our sustenance in good health - food and basic needs. 3. Having more money is correlated with higher social status. 4. Earning more money is seen as motivation for higher productivity and innovation. 5. Fiat money is controlled by a global cartel driven by Greed Apathy and Selfishness that is destroying the climate and ecology. Therefore the more money you earn, the more your paymaster is likely destroying the climate and ecology and it further multiplies with our expenditure in the present global order. 6. Empirical evidence, over past several decades when the alarms were first raised on serious climate and ecology damage in early 1970s, clearly indicates that the individual countries are locked into Destructive Global Competition in the present global order and cannot come out of this without a Civic Society led World Government. https://lnkd.in/gjnHr4wR

Excited to announce two new investments by Gruhas Collective Consumer Fund in the #Childcare space! India, with a median age of ~28 years, has a substantial number of young citizens, with those aged 0-12 years making up ~22% of the total population. This makes India home to the largest number of children in the world. Currently, the average childcare product spending in India is around ₹8,000 compared to ₹2,10,000 in the USA (CY 2022). However, this spending is projected to grow rapidly at 15%, reaching approximately $56-60 billion by 2027. In line with this promising market potential, we are thrilled to announce our latest investments: 1️⃣ EMoMee - Our fourth investment is in EMoMee, an innovative edutainment brand dedicated to fostering emotional intelligence in children through engaging content, play, and learning tools. Founded by industry leaders Pooja Jauhari, Varun Duggirala, and Suraksha Subramaniam, EMoMee is set to revolutionize the way children develop emotional skills. According to global reports, the Social & Emotional Learning market is expected to grow at a CAGR of around 24.3% from 2021 to 2030. This growth is driven by the rising awareness among parents and educators about the role of emotional intelligence in shaping children’s success and well-being. 👉 For more on EMoMee’s journey, visit https://lnkd.in/d7YQdEzz 2️⃣ Bebe Burp - Our fifth investment supports Bebe Burp’s mission to offer nutritious alternatives that make healthy eating accessible and enjoyable for kids from birth. By blending grandma's recipes with expertise from nutritionists and chefs, Bebe Burp provides a range of products like multi-flavored porridge mixes, millet puffs, ragi cookies, and organic jaggery powder, all made from natural, sustainably sourced ingredients. Founded by Shruti Tibrewal, Chirag Gupta, and Bharat Tibrewal, Bebe Burp aims to make healthy eating a reality from birth. 👉 You can try their products at https://bebeburp.com/ We are excited to partner with both EMoMee and Bebe Burp as they continue to make significant strides in their respective fields. #VC #GruhasCollectiveConsumerFund

Lucky for us I had the chance to meet Father Jerry very early in our journey of V-ALL in the North East. His insights on the approach and the region really helped us think about what we were structuring and we still made a lot of mistakes. After spending a couple of weeks I realised some very basic things. 1. In the impact space of mainland India we just club it as the North East and it is an after thought, the diversity region. 2. Most organisations from outside working there don't understand the diversity of people. If we say India is diverse, the states in the North East are extremely different. North and South Assam are poles apart from each other forget the other states 3. The youth and people in all the states carry trauma and lived experience that we don't even understand. The challenges are different. All I remember from Father Jerry's, Shannon Massar and a lot of others advice and now from our pilots is to listen and to remember that a cut and paste approach is not going to be the solution. The context is different and without locals to conceptualise the solution, we will never be able to help or cause any impact. For us at V-ALL we now have a local team of 7 interns who will think of what next. #vallindia #theroadahead #startup #socialimpact #vall V-ALL

There is no connection between politics, elections and governance in Bihar. It is instead caste that defines both society and politics: caste parties and caste-based alliances seek to get the better of each other. In the meanwhile, Biharis seek to migrate to other states in search of a better life. https://lnkd.in/e2SAetUv

For International day to #EndViolenceAgainstWomen, I write for YourStory Media why ending gender-based violence is imperative for India's #economic future. The current scale of the #genderbasedviolence crisis demands urgent macro-level, and mass-scale interventions - beyond just incremental improvements to justice and victim support systems. Like ICRIER's #EPWD program is aiming to do, we need to make these micro-level, socially good/morally right interventions into macro-critical, national priority issues Read more at: https://lnkd.in/dCHkSZqT #16DaysOfActivism #Noexcuse #EndGBV #TowardsBeijing30 #GenderEquality #SocialChange HerStory #metoo

The journey of an impact entrepreneur can often be a lonely one. It requires very different mindset from that of a for-profit business or non-profit organisation. Facing challenges on a daily basis while striving for scale and continuously making impact-first decisions is not easy. How many funders truly understand and stand by impact entrepreneurs as they persistently pursue their vision and strive to create significant impact? I believe Next Bharat Ventures will continue to shed light on true impact entrepreneurs.
