Pushpa 2: The Rule – A Reflection on Entertainment, Escapism, and Balance The movie Pushpa 2: The Rule has emerged as a massive success, amassing over ₹1500 crore in revenue. Yet, beneath this triumph lies a troubling phenomenon. The already wealthy have, in essence, drawn this wealth from the pockets of the less privileged. Among those flocking to the cinemas, a portion undoubtedly belongs to lower-income groups. Viewed strictly as a business transaction, it appears fair—money is exchanged for entertainment. But is it really so different from the sale of a drug? A drug offers fleeting relief, a temporary escape, much like a movie that lifts spirits momentarily, only to leave its audience no better than before. Actors, directors, and producers carve out careers of extraordinary wealth and acclaim, while the audiences they captivate often walk away with little but an empty glow. Some go so far as to idolize these stars, immersing themselves in their songs, scenes, and performances, wasting hours replaying them on platforms like YouTube. Time slips away, and with it, their potential to rise in their own lives. It’s as though the entertainment industry peddles a subtle sedative, lulling the masses into complacency, ensuring they find solace in illusion rather than seeking fulfillment in reality. This pattern extends far beyond cinema. Sports, too, belong to this grand edifice of distraction. While it’s perfectly acceptable for movie stars and athletes to pursue their professions and build careers, the unintended consequence is that many among us grow numb, lost in the spectacle, failing to nurture our own aspirations and achievements. So, what is the answer? Should we abandon movies, sports, and entertainment altogether? Such a notion feels extreme, even joyless. After all, life requires moments of lightness, of delight. The solution, then, lies in vigilance—a deliberate awareness of how we engage with entertainment. Here, the concept of selfishness takes an unexpected turn. Often seen as a vice, selfishness can be reimagined as a virtue when rightly directed. Consider the office worker who toils diligently, aiming for career advancement or a well-earned promotion. This, too, is a form of selfishness—a positive one, rooted in growth and reward. In the same way, we must approach entertainment with constructive selfishness. Let it serve us when needed—when the body and mind are weary from honest labor. There is no harm in indulging in a film or a match after a long day’s work. Sometimes, the best entertainment finds us serendipitously—a compelling series on Netflix or a thrilling Manchester United vs. Arsenal game. These moments feel almost orchestrated by the universe, arriving as gifts when we need them most, a quiet synchronicity affirming that we deserve a little joy. The key is balance: to let entertainment enrich our lives without letting it consume them, to savor it as a spice, not a staple. #pushpa2 #pushpa2therule

It emphasizes proactive risk management throughout the trial lifecycle. Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) are metrics used to monitor potential risks, while Quality Tolerance Limits (QTLs) are predefined thresholds that trigger actions when exceeded. KRIs help in the early identification of issues, and QTLs ensure that the trial remains within acceptable quality boundaries. Together, they facilitate efficient resource allocation, enhance data quality, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Here are some examples of KRIs and QTLs used in clinical trials: 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗸 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 (𝗞𝗥𝗜𝘀): --𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒕𝒐𝒄𝒐𝒍 𝑫𝒆𝒗𝒊𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔: The number or frequency of deviations from the study protocol. --𝑷𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑬𝒏𝒓𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑹𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒔: Monitoring the rate at which patients are enrolled in the study compared to planned timelines. --𝑨𝒅𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒆 𝑬𝒗𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑹𝒆𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈: The frequency and severity of adverse events reported during the trial. --𝑫𝒂𝒕𝒂 𝑸𝒖𝒆𝒓𝒚 𝑹𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒔: The number of queries raised during data verification processes. 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗧𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗟𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘀 (𝗤𝗧𝗟𝘀): --𝑷𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑫𝒓𝒐𝒑𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝑹𝒂𝒕𝒆: A predefined percentage of patient dropouts that, if exceeded, triggers a review or corrective action. --𝑫𝒂𝒕𝒂 𝑬𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒚 𝑻𝒊𝒎𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔: The maximum allowable delay for entering data into the trial database after a patient visit. --𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒕𝒐𝒄𝒐𝒍 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒑𝒍𝒊𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝑹𝒂𝒕𝒆: A threshold for the percentage of visits conducted according to the protocol. --𝑨𝒅𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒆 𝑬𝒗𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑻𝒉𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒍𝒅: A specific number or rate of serious adverse events that, if reached, necessitates an investigation. These examples illustrate how KRIs and QTLs are used to monitor trial performance and maintain quality standards. After staying in hospital (for last few days) to attend some personal emergency, few things I realised again: Whatever level of #Digitalisation and #IntelligenceBuilding we all in #TechnologyField may claim to have achieved as part of #DigitalIndia #MakeInIndia #IndiaAI etc., few things cannot be digitalised here even in next 5 years (unless a forced bill like one created by #KarnatakaOnEmployment get passed): E.g. * #ABHA (#AyushmanBharat Digital Mission) was launched on 27th Sept 2021 but still finding health records of any patient / citizen of the country (via #ABHAID) is going to be hard for the #GovernmentOfIndia / #NationalHealthAuthority https://lnkd.in/gmQ-5GqT * Government even has been #rewarding Hospitals, Clinics, Diagnostic Labs etc. if they adopt technology quickly (and push health-records back into ABHA servers) but folks just didn't want to do it - for both reasonable reasons (operational efficiency, bandwidth, priority for themselves and their business) as well as wrong intentions (e.g. fear of being penalised just in case they commit any mistake during treatment / testing, etc. or do redundant test / treatment / surgery etc. w/o a need etc.) * But on top of it, there is also one more practical problem at ground level (nurses, cleaning staff, duty doctors, etc. etc.) - the # of pages of documentation and book-keeping they do is enormous. For a single patient admitted in IPD, they need to maintain anywhere b/w 50-100 page records and filling that up and updating it on daily basis at a speed, is a "real pain" but it's a "very important part of treatment". * Expecting each non-tech-savvy nurse or staff (who may be taking care of anywhere between 5 to 20 beds and context switching quickly based on need / emergency) to fill it in a tablet / mobile / etc. may be too much of an ask. (While countries like US / UAE may be fully digital w.r.t HealthRecords today). * But the data these nursing staffs collect on each day on those papers is so critical from healthcare point of view, if a patient needs to be diagnosed / analysed / treated properly, faster and at min cost and if preventive measures need to be taken (for detecting and treating his/her and even others' future ailments) by analysing health-patterns (in the world of #AI / #ML etc.). Would have helped if #GovernmentOfIndia standardises these #HealthSoftwares and then gives & trains institutions (Hospitals, Clinics, Diagnostic Labs etc.) for #FREE and mandates them to migrate existing records to these systems in within next 6 months, else #CancelLicenses? Of course, Marketing / Sales / Service / Revenue numbers are separate from HealthCareRecords, hence institutions would maintain their business privacies. What govt. is asking for is just "data" which in a country like India can solve so many critical problems and may also be the source of tremendous growth in GDP by paving ways to newer avenues & businesses. Thoughts?

What are the realistic ages of the participants of the Kurukshetra War? The key to unlocking this mystery was the true age of Drona during the Kurukshetra War, mentioned directly in the Drona Parva! MBH CE 7.101.69 आकर्णपलितः श्यामो वयसाशीतिकात् परः रणे पर्यचरद् द्रोणो वृद्धः षोडशवर्षवत् MBH CE 7.165.49 आकर्णपलितः श्यामो वयसाशीतिपञ्चकः त्वत्कृते व्यचरत् संख्ये स तु षोडशवर्षवत् The first sloka gives Drona's age during the war as eighty-plus. The second sloka gives Drona's age during the war as eighty-five. The fact that Drona was in his eighties allows us to limit the age of Pandavas, Bhishma and all other participants of the Kurukshetra War, putting to rest theories that the Pandavas were in their 70s or 80s during the Kurukshetra War and Bhishma was 200 or so years of age during the War! Another anomaly is the duration of Arjuna's exile from Indraprastha on account of Panchali. During this exile period, he united with Ulupi, Chitrangada and Subhadra. The duration of exile is extended to 12 years by later poets, whereas he was in exile only for 13 months. Pandavas were born in Satasrnga (Satopanth) in the high Himalayas of Uttarakhand. They were just born when Pandu died. The Rishis of Satasrgna sent them and their mother, Kunti, to Hastinapura. Then Yudhiṣṭhira, Bhīma, Arjuna, and the twins were aged 4, 3, 2, and 1.5 years. Pandavas were around 20 years old when they were exiled to Varanavata after their education. They lived for 1 year in Varanavata. After marrying Pancahli, they lived for 1 year in Kampilya as guests of father-in-law Drupada. The Pandavas ruled Indraprastha only for around 5 years, after which they were invited to a game of dice and sent to forest life of 12 years and incognito life of 1 year. Close to 1 year went in the war preparations. Based on these corrections, the age of Arjuna during the Kurukshetra War was 42. Yudhisthira and Bhima were 44 and 43. Nakula and Sahadeva were 41.5 years of age. Krishna was 42.5 years of age. Bhishma was 114 years old, and Vyasa was 115 years old. Kripa was 84 years old, and Ashvatthama was 60 years of age. There is a possibility that there was another individual who was given the title of Bhishma (a nephew of Bhishma) who was 23 years younger than Santanu's son Bhishma, who made the Bhishma-Sapatha (pledge) of Brahmacharya (celibacy). Despite being in the next generation of Santanu's son Bhishma, this younger Bhishma was like an elder brother to Drona, a grandfather figure to both Pandavas and Kauravas and a father figure to Dhrtarashtra and Pandu. This Bhishma would be 91 years during the Kurukshetra War. Similarly, the descendants of Vyasa used the title "Vyasa". This tradition was broken by Shuka, who used his own name. This is similar to how the descendants of Vasistha of the 7th Mandala of Rgveda used the title "Vasistha" to denote themselves. Thus, all anomalies of the ages of individuals in Mahabharata are resolved.
