Earlier today, OpenAI and Telangana AI Mission (T-AIM) jointly hosted a community event featuring Atty Eleti, Member of Technical Staff at OpenAI. The event was held on behalf of Emerging Technologies Wing, Govt. of Telangana, and in association with nasscom ai and MATH AI & ML Tech Hub. Hosted at T-Hub, the session spotlighted the transformative potential of AI in innovation, business processes, and governance. The event saw participation from 80+ attendees ranging from startup founders, developers, SME leaders, researchers, among others. Pragya M from OpenAI kickstarted the session with a welcome address about OpenAI's mission. Rama Devi Lanka from Govt. of Telangana delivered a keynote address on Telangana's AI Implementation Roadmap. Atty Eleti, a Hyderabad native and one of OpenAI’s earliest hires, showcased OpenAI’s cutting-edge AI models and solutions for the developer community: ➡️ How India, the second-largest OpenAI user base, is a global AI innovation leader. ➡️ 80% cost reductions for Indian languages like Hindi, Telugu, and Gujarati through OpenAI’s advancements. ➡️ OpenAI’s vision for 2025: transforming AI from "ask anything" to "do anything" with smarter, multimodal, and integrated capabilities. Today, the Telangana AI Mission (T-AIM) organised an expert consultation with subject matter experts to solicit critical feedback regarding the operationalisation of the Government of Telangana's Procurement Guidelines for Public Sector Use of AI, with support from nasscom ai. Experts provided critical inputs on the mechanisms required to support Government departments in assessing the quality of AI solutions at key stages of the procurement process, and ensuring the responsible development and deployment of AI solutions intended for public sector use. During the recent Praja Palana Praja Vijayotsavalu celebrations by the ITE&C Department, Govt. of Telangana, several initiatives were launched by Hon. Minister Sridhar Babu Duddilla. Among them, two critical initiatives were enabled by the Telangana AI Mission (T-AIM) for the Emerging Technologies Wing, Govt. of Telangana and the state. The first project, which is supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, will engage 2,450 Telugu-speaking people, including 2,400 women from self-help groups (SHGs) and non-SHG groups, for data annotation work and provide them an opportunity to earn by completing AI-enabled tasks. The project will initially be piloted in the Mahabubabad and Mulugu districts, with plans to expand it statewide to create a meaningful impact across Telangana. We're glad to support Manu Chopra and his team from Karya for this important initiative. The second project, MITRA-TG, is an AI-powered mobile application developed by United We Care India in collaboration with the Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TGANB) to assist parents and students in identifying potential drug use risks among teenagers. The plan is to roll this out across 1,000 schools in and around Hyderabad.
