The climate crisis needs urgent, innovative and collaborative action more than ever before. Over the last three years, Rainmatter Foundation’s work has been around supporting positive climate action, a healthier environment, and the livelihoods associated with them. Our approach at the foundation has evolved to build deeper, collaborative, intersectional, immediate and landscape-rooted solutions to the climate problem. 🌿 We work on building lasting, meaningful partnerships in the climate ecosystem and supporting and collaborating with organisations, individuals and causes working in different areas of an entire spectrum through grants, fellowships and investments. If you are an individual or organisation who is working towards solving for the climate crisis, write to us at [email protected]. Our team will review your email and connect you if your work aligns with our current goals. 🤝🏻 Click the link below to know more on our website. 👇 https://rainmatter.org/ Sailee Rane Sathyanarayanan Sankaran Vikas Hosoor Sameer Shisodia #whatsnew #climate #climatechange #climatemitigation #solutions

About us
Rainmatter Climate Foundation is a Zerodha-sponsored initiative focused on fostering and assisting ideas that help preserve and regenerate ecosystems. We believe that this needs both direct interventions as well as the enablement of larger platforms that involve a mainstream understanding of the need and benefits of these efforts while also scaling participation in them beyond the philanthropic efforts of a few. Indeed we do not see this as charity; it is an investment into our own future and wellbeing. Amongst our core beliefs is that moving to a green economy and creating green jobs is an essential part of the changes needed for a better ecology. We also think that this needs to happen in a distributed fashion across geographies, with value and job creation everywhere and not being limited to a few urban centres. Reversing both migration and concentration of value, wealth and resources are a major need towards this and will also need a strengthening of public goods and services across India. Rainmatter Climate Foundation is uniquely positioned to influence these efforts in terms of the market and technology skills and partnerships we bring to the table. Additionally, we are committing a $100mn fund towards this over the coming few years. This will be disbursed as grants and funding for projects in the above directions that become replicable models. It will also be used for the creation of open, collaborative platforms that cross-pollinate and scale many good ideas and successful experiments and help create a green economy everywhere. This includes our commitments to funding open-source efforts that help create projects and platforms for climate change and related efforts. Rainmatter Foundation is also incubating and investing in entrepreneurship that helps with these directions and helps move towards a greener, more equitable, and lower footprint economy.

What if nature could take you to court? In New Zealand, a mountain can. To the Māori people, Taranaki Maunga isn't just land, it's an ancestor. By granting it legal personhood, the law now recognizes what Indigenous communities have always known: nature isn't separate from us. With the climate crisis deepening, could this inspire a new way of protecting the natural world? Follow The Climate Brief for jargon-free climate updates, explained in under 10 minutes. The third episode of The Climate Brief is out! 🌍📢 This week, we're unpacking three climate stories that reveal how the planet is changing and what it means for us: 🌊 Rebuilding the Teesta 3 Dam – After being destroyed by a Glacial Lake Outburst Flood, should the dam in Sikkim be rebuilt or left as a cautionary tale? ❄️ Khelo India Winter Games Postponed – For the second year in a row, insufficient snowfall in Kashmir has delayed this major sports event. What does a warming climate mean for Kashmir’s winter economy and water resources? 🦢 4 New Ramsar Wetlands – India added four wetlands to the Ramsar list this World Wetlands Day, but is recognition enough to protect these fragile ecosystems? #worldwildlifeday | Nature sustains life, and every species plays a vital role in keeping its delicate balance. This World Wildlife Day, we celebrate 22 partners working across ecosystems — forests, rivers, grasslands, and coastlines, to protect biodiversity and restore balance between people and the planet. To care for the wild is to care for our shared future, one that depends on thriving ecosystems, rich biodiversity, and the communities working to protect them. Conservation needs long-term support, resources, and collective action. As we navigate a changing climate, investing in nature is investing in life — in cleaner air, flowing rivers, fertile soils, thriving wildlife, and resilient communities. Here's to those who care for the wild, every day. 🌿 A Rocha India, Wildlife Conservation Society, The Shola Trust, Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment, Holématthi Nature Foundation, Dakshin Foundation , ClimateRISE Alliance, Youth Conservation Action Network, Farmers for Forests (F4F), Sahjeevan Organization, Uttarayan Wildlife, The Lantana Collective, Centre for Wildlife Studies, Palluyir Trust for Nature Education and Research, Nature Conservation Foundation, Ecological Restoration Alliance, Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy, Wetlands International, Gurukula Botanical Sanctuary, Biodiversity Collaborative, Hume Centre for Ecology and Wildlife Biology

#WorldWildlifeDay | Olive Ridley turtles have outlived dinosaurs, but will they survive us? 🐢 The tragedy unfolding on Tamil Nadu's shores reminds us that conservation isn't just about safeguarding a species, but protecting the balance that holds life together. Over 1300 endangered Olive Ridley turtles have washed ashore this nesting season, many trapped in illegal trawler nets. Investing in conservation means investing in stronger protections, better research, and the ecosystems that both wildlife and people rely on. We appreciate every diary, calendar, and goodie sent our way. But in staying true to our core philosophy, we’d love for you to hold back on the gifts. Your gifts come with a lot of thought, but they may not always be used, and their packaging only adds to waste. A simple message in our inbox would mean just as much to us. Write to us anytime, we’d love to hear from you. Your thoughtfulness means a lot. #lessismore #reduceoverconsumption
