The Semiconductor Race Won't Be Won by Technology Alone. It Will Be Won by Talent. Every discussion around India's semiconductor ambitions focuses on fabs, investments, AI, and manufacturing capacity. These are essential. But there's another question we must answer. Do we have the talent to power this transformation? As India accelerates its journey towards becoming a global semiconductor hub, building infrastructure is only one part of the equation. The other is building a generation of engineers who are ready to innovate, adapt, and lead in an industry that's constantly evolving. This was the essence of our CEO Prasad Balakrishnan's interaction with over 200 engineering and science students at Wings of Possibility, organised in collaboration with Agaram Foundation at Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. Joined by leaders from IIT Madras and ISRO, the session explored the opportunities, challenges, and possibilities shaping the future of India's technology ecosystem. Prasad shared a perspective that resonates deeply with us at MiPhi: "A degree may open the first door. But curiosity, continuous learning and the willingness to evolve are what build enduring careers." As Artificial Intelligence reshapes industries and semiconductor technologies advance at an unprecedented pace, technical expertise alone will not define tomorrow's leaders. The ability to learn, unlearn and relearn will. This is why stronger collaboration between academia and industry has never been more important. Through mentorship, internships, research partnerships and real-world exposure, we can bridge the gap between education and innovation, ensuring young engineers are prepared not just for today's jobs, but for tomorrow's opportunities.
