Understanding patent fundamentals is key for researchers to protect innovations and secure commercialisation opportunities. Effective drafting and filing strategies strengthen patent protection and prevent premature disclosure. A well-drafted patent helps prevent idea theft, and by providing precise technical details, researchers can enhance patent enforceability and commercialisation potential. In this context, the Office of DPIIT-IPR Chair at Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad successfully hosted an engaging workshop on “Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)” on February 24, 2025. The workshop aimed to raise awareness among researchers, academicians, and students about the significance of intellectual property in the research ecosystem. LEXORBIS Partner Avi Garg and Associate Partner Saurabh Vaid - LL.M. led insightful sessions on “𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹𝘀, 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗿𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 & 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗲𝘀” 𝗮𝗻𝗱 “𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗗𝗿𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀” covering essential aspects of patents, drafting techniques, patent filing, and the importance of filing patents before publishing research, ownership rights in institutional IP policies, and the commercial and career benefits of patents. Through interactive case studies and live examples, attendees were equipped with practical skills to navigate the patenting process effectively. #IPRWorkshop #PatentFiling #IPAwareness #InnovationProtection #ResearchAndIP #PatentStrategy #LexOrbis #IITDhanbad #TechInnovation #IntellectualProperty
