  • 💰 What It Takes to Be an LP? 💰 How much money do you need to become a Limited Partner (LP)?  Ankur Pahwa of PeerCapital shared his thoughts on this 1. SEBI mandates a minimum of ₹1 Cr due to the complexities of this asset class. 2. It’s a long-term, close-ended investment. You can’t exit whenever you want. 3. Returns aren’t guaranteed and typically take 7-8 years to come in cash form. 4. Transparency is very different from public market investments. That’s why investing as an LP isn’t just about capital—it’s about commitment. Would you consider becoming an LP? ___________________________________________________________________ More on our podcast, live on Youtube 🎙️. Are operator-turned-VCs better VCs? Earlier, VCs came from banking and consulting—an outside-in approach. They analyzed markets, built strategies, but never lived the inside-out reality of founders. Operators-turned-VCs, on the other hand, have been there, done that. They’ve faced the sleepless nights, the fundraising struggles, the highs, the lows. That’s why they bring not just capital, but empathy. How will the VC model change in the decentralized world? Will it really become decentralized? Nima Kaz is one guy who lives in the future or is always coming "Back from the future" and I am always so inspired talking to him. Him along with Paloma Lecheta and Yuri Navarro gave such thought provoking examples in our conversation, that it does give a glimpse of what the future VCs will look like. Here's a small snippet: Nima: VC will become literally as you saw the first wave of fintech make you the banker yourself. Basically, now you have an app in your pocket that's almost permissionless, the way that you can move around your money. Probably if you're in the decentralized world, in the crypto world, you literally have permissionless transactions. If you're running your own wallet, running basically your own transactions, right? You're not using an exchange, you're permissionless. That same thing is going to happen in VC, and we're seeing it happen right now. THIS AND A LOT MORE ON How Paloma is building an accelerator, Founder Haus, with more focus on founder's health and resilience. How Yuri talks about the lonely and difficult journey (initially) on running a fund VS running a startup. EPISODE TO BE OUT IN MARCH SOON! Stay tuned 🤙 🎙️ Can follow Carnaama YouTube channel for more content around founders and VCs: https://lnkd.in/gPUHvQzq Which topic about running a fund would you be interested to learn more about? _________________________________________________ ♻️ Repost to help any founder preparing for fundraising in 2025 ✚ Follow Chetan Bhatia (Deck Story Guy) for more fundraising hacks and founder + VC perspectives

Are there funds that put in money in Preseed and Growth stage both? Not many funds do that. But certain sectors like deeptech require a different approach. Ashish Taneja and Manish Gupta of growX ventures have been investing in deeptech and emerging tech since 2012. They have literally seen the ecosystem getting built in front of them. It makes so much sense when you see them take growth stage bets because they understand what it really takes to reach the inflection point growth of Series B. Here's what Manish said about the new $50 MN fund: "With Fund II’s stage-diversified approach, we are there for every step of the founders’ journey, right from 0-to-1 sparks to 1-to-10 powerhouse growth. Beyond capital, we also bring strategic collaboration to help them unlock growth and claim market leadership in their respective domains.” This episode was shot last year so yeah the news was out on the podcast much before it became official 😉 Here's the full episode link: https://lnkd.in/gqe5wtQH Follow me Chetan Bhatia for more such news from VCs and Founders, and definitely reshare for founders building in deeptech. How do you tell a story of a marketplace? Start with demand side or supply side or do both together? It is a conundrum that a lot of founders have. Venwiz is building a marketplace that helps procure vendors for any Capex requirements. Every capex requirement is different, vendor attributes are different, the contracts run in millions but has been an unorganised market. There are also problems for vendors to market themselves. So a difficult problem to solve.. Till Rajesh Reddy, his cofounding team started fixing the problem for enterprises. The Industrial Services SaaS marketplace raised $8.3 mn from Accel , Nexus Venture Partners and more marquee VCs. This Thursday I will be sitting with him to pick his brains on how he navigated and prepared for the series A raise after they raised seed round. And of course we will do a teardown of the pitch! Sign up here on Luma for this thursday: https://lu.ma/k1pn85dt Excited to partner with Forecastr on tearing down these from financials perspective.💯 And The Founder Folks to help the community of amazing founders they are building. 👊 Are you building a marketplace and getting ready for a fundraise? What challenges you see when talking to VCs? ————————— Reshare with any marketplace founder raising money. 🤙 Follow me Chetan Bhatia for more hacks on fundraising

If VC business is harder than a startup business, why is no one talking about it? I just had this realisation while chatting with Pranav Obhrai on his new fund, while sitting at One Horizon, Gurgaon, having coffee and reflecting on life, startups and everything in between. A fews days later, I mentioned it to Himanshu Periwal that if there is so much being talked to mentor startup founders, why is there not enough useful content for fund managers. Oister Global by the way does have some amazing content but yeah more dialogue needs to happen on: - How to raise your first fund? - Whether even running a fund is for you or not? - Why operator run funds are becoming the norm? - Who are the LPs? how do they think? How are they thinking in 2025? - What role do family offices have? How are they different than VCs? - How to manage the fund? - How to create a differentiation? - How to ensure returns? (the toughest and most important) And so much more.. Carnaama VC Diaries is so much about this and more. And this time not in the car but yeah as always it is the personalities that I get more intrigued with - Ankur Pahwa is a Manchester City fan and big pet lover. So founders supporting rival clubs and founders building in pet care can take a note. :) Dhruv Dhanraj Bahl and Pranav Obhrai's love for Gurdas Mann and good scotch is very obvious as we end the episode with "ki banu duniya da, Sache badshah waheguru jaane" (what's gonna happen to this world, only the almighty knows) So yeah as a founder, if you might think life of a VC is easy, think again. Probably watching this series will make you empathise a little next time you ranting about a VC who said NO to you. Episodes dropping soon.
