Life Skills Are No Longer Optional—They Are Essential A major milestone was marked yesterday in Jammu as SCERT Jammu & Kashmir and the Bharti Airtel Foundation launched the Life Skills Curriculum Program for Classes VI–XII. We are proud to be part of this important collaboration, contributing to a shared vision of equipping young learners with the life skills they need to thrive in an increasingly complex and fast-changing world. Speaking at the launch, Shri Rakesh Bharti Mittal, Co-Chairman, Bharti Airtel Foundation, said: “Education must go beyond academic scores to equip students with the skills needed to navigate an increasingly complex world. At a time when information is abundant but skills like critical thinking and emotional resilience are increasingly at risk, life skills are no longer optional - they are essential. The launch of the Life Skills Curriculum Program marks a significant step towards embedding decision-making, collaboration, communication, and emotional well-being into everyday classroom experiences. Building on our sustained engagement in the region, this initiative, aligned with NEP 2020, reflects our commitment to strengthening the education ecosystem through TheTeacherApp and strong government partnerships. At Bharti Airtel Foundation, we are proud to support the Government of Jammu & Kashmir in advancing this shared vision of preparing future-ready citizens for India’s growth journey.” A powerful reminder that the future of education lies not only in academic achievement, but also in nurturing resilient, thoughtful, and responsible citizens. airtel | Bharti Enterprises | TheTeacherApp #LifeSkillsEducation #NEP2020 #BhartiAirtelFoundation #TheTeacherApp #FutureReadyStudents #HolisticEducation #EducationTransformation #JammuAndKashmir #21stCenturySkills #StudentDevelopment

A Landmark Step Towards Holistic Education in Jammu & Kashmir Today marks a significant milestone in the education landscape of Jammu & Kashmir as the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), J&K, in partnership with the Bharti Airtel Foundation, launched the Life Skills Curriculum Program for Classes VI–XII in the region. This pioneering initiative aims to institutionalise life skills education by integrating it directly into the school curriculum through structured learning resources, teacher capacity building, and ongoing digital support via TheTeacherApp. The program will help students develop essential 21st-century competencies, including critical thinking, communication, collaboration, decision-making, and emotional well-being—skills that are increasingly vital for navigating a rapidly changing world. We were honoured by the presence of Shri Manoj Sinha, Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, Jammu & Kashmir; Shri Rakesh Bharti Mittal, Co-Chairman, Bharti Airtel Foundation; Shri Ram Niwas Sharma, IAS, Commissioner/Secretary, School Education Department, Jammu & Kashmir; Shri Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu; Dr Naseem Javaid Chowdhary, Director, Directorate of School Education, Jammu; and Prof Sindhu Kapoor, Joint Director, SCERT (Central), J&K. The launch builds upon Bharti Airtel Foundation’s sustained commitment to strengthening the education ecosystem in Jammu & Kashmir since 2016 through its Quality Support Program (QSP). It also draws on the success of the Life Skills Development through House System initiative launched in 2022 in collaboration with the Directorate of School Education, Jammu. The learnings from that initiative have helped shape this curriculum-integrated approach, aligned with the vision of NEP 2020. Together, this initiative reflects a shared commitment to ensuring that education goes beyond academics and equips students with the skills needed to thrive as confident, responsible, and future-ready citizens. I come from Madhya Pradesh and was raised in a single-parent household, where my mother has been both the sole provider and my greatest source of inspiration. Watching her manage a business and support our family taught me resilience, responsibility, and the importance of perseverance. Balancing personal responsibilities with academics required discipline and determination, but these experiences helped me grow into a confident and independent learner. Today, I am pursuing my B.Tech at Shiksha ‘O’ Anusandhan, where I continue to challenge myself and build new skills. As a Bharti Scholar (2025–2026 cohort), the support I receive has enabled me to focus wholeheartedly on my education and make the most of every opportunity. I aspire to become a skilled engineer, contribute to innovative solutions, and build a future that makes my family proud. — Anuska Jain Bharti Scholar At Bharti Airtel Foundation, in collaboration with Indus Towers Limited, we stand with scholars like Anuska, whose determination and ambition demonstrate how education can empower young minds to create brighter futures for themselves and their families.

As India’s education system evolves, the need to seamlessly integrate skilling with schooling has never been more urgent. In this insightful piece, our COO Binu Nair highlights why moving beyond foundational learning towards practical, future-ready skills is critical for improving employability and reducing dropouts. At Bharti Airtel Foundation, we are committed to nurturing this shift — embedding life skills, digital awareness, and vocational exposure early in a child’s learning journey. Because education must not only inform, but also empower and enable.
India's future workforce is sitting in our classrooms today. The question is: how well we prepare them beyond exams, and focus on employability. My latest article in Hindustan Times explores why it's time to embrace a true "skilling with schooling" approach. https://lnkd.in/gvWT2kiA
