How My Competitor’s $2M Raise Proved Me Right 2 years ago, I envisioned an AI-powered product sourcing agent to empower small and medium-sized retailers — those without large teams or deep cross-domain expertise — to reduce sourcing time, mitigate risks and stay ahead of market trends. After relocating to Israel, I took the plunge: assembled a team of ambitious immigrant talent, conducted in-depth market research and 30+ customer interviews, left my job, and invested my own $7K to bring this vision to life. We've worked tirelessly, and just a month before our beta launch, I discovered a competing startup, founded by former Amazon, Google and Stripe employees, that launched on September 13 after raising $2M in a pre-seed round from XYZ Venture Capital, Propel Ventures and Go Global Ventures. No significant traction, no real product — just a raw beta and social media posts filled with Midjourney-generated images. Instead of viewing this as a setback, it validated my vision. The fact that 2 similar projects emerged simultaneously proves there's a growing demand for solutions like ours. If large-scale teams are also pursuing this, it confirms that the market is ripe for transformation, and I’m proud to have been thinking in the same direction. For months, I battled impostor syndrome (not anymore), but this proves that innovative thinking isn't exclusive to industry giants. I arrived at the same solution independently, driven by data, passion and conviction, and ahead of the global AI hype. I may not have the corporate pedigree or deep pockets, but I do have something equally powerful: an amazing team, long-term vision, entrepreneurial resilience and unwavering support from my wife. I believe our product will inject fresh competition into the market, benefiting everyone. Now, I’m looking for partners to help accelerate this momentum with venture investment, connections, expertise and advice. Take a look at this picture. It was taken today at our Salesforce offices in Tel-Aviv. It shows a few dozens of Salesforce Israel employees in one of our regular all-hands meetings. What's so special about that? Well, that picture was taken exactly 36 hours after Iran launched a massive aerial strike against Israel with 100s of UCAVs, ballistic and cruise missiles carrying about 60 tons(!) of explosives. Thanks to the Israeli Air force, the air forces of the US, UK, France, Jordan and others *and* Israeli innovation and engineering talent who developed the most advanced multi-layered air defense systems in the world - luckily that attack ended up with relatively low impact. It was a sleepless night for all us in Israel who got an advanced notice of the attack and basically spent that night bracing for impact. Now take another look at this picture. 36 hours later - People showing up at the office, talking to each other, having a few laughs, having meetings, discussing deadlines, solving business problems, discussing engineering problems, doing demos, having coffee and lunch together, having an all-hands meeting together. 36 hours ago we were bracing for impact of 60 tons of explosives that were about to fall out of the sky.
