By Rabbi Belinda Silbert. The KaBaD tree diagram: This is a map of the Sefirot that stands for Keter, an abbreviation of the next three Sefirot. It was created in the early 17th century by Isaac Luria, the father of contemporary Kabbalah. Kabbalists meditate on the Omer while focusing on this map. This is a very intricate and advanced practice but can provide the inspired learner with much insight into the workings of the Sefirot and the Omer. The day is seen as a meditation where one considers what aspects of one's personality or emotional state need to be corrected or improved. The Omer, in this system, becomes a spiritual voyage through the human experience and a process for the tikkun (healing or rectification) of the soul. Scholars and mystics throughout the ages have paired each day with traits based on their association with the Sefirot. For a comprehensive understanding of the pairs for each day, one may search for a chart outlining these traits. The most prominent form of spiritual practice based on the association of the Omer with the Sefirot is the examination of each day in relation to the corresponding pair of Sefirot.

DAY 29 (EDITION 24) WHOREDOM AND WASTED LIVES! 3 NUMBERS 25:1-7 The act of joining the bandwagon trend of immorality, often has a way of introducing the bandwagon troubles. This was the case amongst the children of Israel, there was the introduction of whoredom that led to the arrival of several other issues that compounded matters... Yes compounded matters!!! That is; the characteristics of whoredom, It is that, it introduces things that these people never believed they will ever get involved with in their entire life. But while they were carried away in immorality, that brought about calamity, somebody carried the day to become a "divine Celebrity", in the person of Phineas, who stood up to eliminate this show of shame! That is what you get to enjoy, when you refuse to follow the crowd to toll the part of whoredom and stand up for purity. SEFER YESIRA: THE SCROLL OF ABRAHAM A remarkable thing happened today after I returned to Israel and started unpacking. I took out my poster-sized handwritten translation of Sefer Yesira ('Book of Creativity') from its tube and it effortlessly rolled itself into a scroll! Sefer Yesira first came to the light of history in the form of an 8th century scroll composed in the land of Israel and discovered in the Cairo Geniza. And indeed, the authorship of Sefer Yesira is traditionally attributed to Abraham. My translation is based upon one of the fully surviving manuscript versions of the Cairo Geniza scroll. The Quran (87:18) itself might allude to Sefer Yesira as the "earlier book" of the "scroll of Abraham". Now, if I can only convince that crazy Shia fanatic in Tehran not to attack a nation mentioned in the Quran 43 times - Israel! Concerning the Rights of Women, Sexual Minorities and Minority Groups in the Middle East: Israel is a stand alone Progressive Beacon of Democracy and Human Freedom and an advanced Country that is surrounded by a sea of awakening/ regressive / dysfunctional / despotic Democracies / Monarchies / Iran Subsidiaries in the Middle East. Same sex marriage in Israel is denied to couples because of a more complicated legal conundrum that doesn’t exist in other Democratic countries- At this time in Israel, the only marriages that are allowed between Jewish people are non-Secular or Orthodox marriages and so the orthodox religion would have to reform to enable the state to have the recourse to enable the law to reform - same sex marriage is not denied because of an opposition or homophobia in the State, but from a strict and outdated misinterpretation of Leviticus in the Orthodox scripture of Judaism. Israel recognises Same Sex Marriages in law that were solemnised in other countries- and it doesn’t discriminate against people on the basis of their sexuality. Because of the Jewish character of the State, it applies the same denial equally to people who wish to have a secular marriage without religion as it does to same sex couples who wish to marry without the religion involved or with a more modernised / civilised interpretation of scripture applied. But there is a practical and legally expedient solution to this conundrum that I have thought of and I will write about it after Shabbat.

.What's happening in Gaza isn't just because of the indefensible actions of Hamas in October 7th, its been in the making since the 1940s. If it was simply about the release of Israeli hostages why hasn't the Israeli government brokered a deal so that all hostages were released without loss of life on either side? it has never, ever been about the hostages, it has always been about control and annexation of Palestinian territory which the Israeli government has no legal right to. In conflict there are rules that apply to all sides - it would appear that the Israeli government does not consider these rules applicable to them. They see themselves above the law and continue to ride rough-shod over international statues and laws and because the rest of the world (or most of it) has never brought Israel to account for past or current illegalities then we risk other similar actions being taken by other countries - we are all complicit in what is happening in Gaza because we have not made our own governments take responsibility for their silence, we have not made our governments up hold international law. #ceasefirenow

Reflective Sundays: Makhloket L'Shem Shamayim I heard a powerful Hebrew phrase recently: "makhloket l'shem shamayim," meaning "a principled struggle where people are honest, direct, and compassionate while fighting for something larger than themselves", in fact it directly translates in the Hebrew to "fight for the sake of heaven". This wisdom speaks to us in an age where so often we hold our positions with fierce determination—sometimes so much that it becomes easy to believe in things that aren't true, simply because we've locked ourselves into being "right." It's natural to feel rooted in our convictions, but disagreements don’t have to sever our relationships or our respect for one another. Disagreement can be an act of love when it is rooted in a shared pursuit of something beyond ourselves. If we focus on more than just ourselves—on reaching for higher truths and lasting impact—our debates can be constructive, and our struggles can be transformational. Hey, we might even enjoy those a lot more, because they'd be purposeful. Those who fight for higher principles, who care more about attaining the goal than about proving themselves right, find ways to build bridges rather than walls. They know the real work of lasting progress and legacy requires collaboration—even with those who see things differently. To insist on being "right" for the sake of ego often results in temporary gains or fragile success. However, when we elevate the purpose of our disagreements, we can begin to create something solid and enduring. In our world, we’re often told to "look out for number one" or that it's a "dog-eat-dog" world. The underlying goal in so many disagreements, it seems, is not to arrive at a higher truth or a better solution, but simply to win. But what if we each approached our conflicts with makhloket l'shem shamayim? How many disputes would be resolved, how many partnerships would flourish, and how much more peace, creativity, and growth would we see in our world? When we cling to being "right," we stop growing. We cannot learn if we close ourselves off from new perspectives. But when our desire to build something greater than ourselves outweighs our need to win, we are free to truly listen, to learn, and to become part of something beautiful and meaningful. So today and throughout this week, remember this: let your disagreements be guided by a vision larger than yourself. Don’t just fight to win—fight to build, to connect, to reach higher ground. Today's Q&A - from the daily email Reader's Question I am a little confused as to why we celebrate Lag B’Omer based on the reason that the Talmidim of Rabbi Akiva stopped dying. They stopped dying because there was nobody else left to die. And even if they didn’t specifically die on Lag B’Omer, Since the dying picked up the following day, how is that a reason to celebrate? Answer We are not celebrating the death of the Talmidim, nor are we celebrating the pause in their death, per se. We are celebrating the rebirth of Torah learning and the continuation of our Mesorah which came about during this time period, namely via Rebbi Akiva and his new disciples, including Rebbi Shimon bar Yochai. When Rebbi Akiva lost EVERYTHING he worked so hard to build, he could have and should have been dejected and thrown in the towel (as most human beings would have done) However, he did not. He did the opposite. He went and found 5 new Talmidim and started again. From those 5 we have everything we have until today in Torah Sheba'al Peh, and specifically, via Rebbi Shimon, we have Toras Hanistar as well, i.e. the holy Zohar.  Thus, what we are celebrating, in essence, is the REBIRTH of the Mesorah of Torah which happened in this time period, despite the odds against it, and since Rebbi Shimon's Yahrtzeit is in this time period, on Lag B'Omer (According to some pinions, such as Rav Yehonasan Eibeschutz and others) that was the day chosen to celebrate the REBIRTH and CONTINUITY, of Torah for Am Yisroel, as an unbroken chaim from Sinai, via Rebbi Akiva and his talmidim. These words are etched in Meron at the grave of Rebbi Shimon "Ki Lo Sishakach MiPi Zaro....." Torah will never be forgotten....due in large part to the REBIRTH of Torah by Rebbi Akiva and his Talmidim, chiefly, Rebbi Shimon. In a deeper sense, "They stopped dying" is a reference to the Torah. It stopped dying, and continued being transmitted! There is a lot more to say about this topic, which is a deep and mystical topic with many aspects to it, but a full coverage of this is beyond the scope of this email. #LinkedInHalacha #LagBomer

In Israel we've been living through 10 month of trauma and constant stress. Everyone has been and is still suffering whether from direct impact or dealing with people who are impacted. The last few days with warnings of impending attacks from Iran and its terrorist proxies have brought new sources of stress and pressure. Not everyone has the strength to hold things together. Maybe they never could, maybe they have been pushed over the edge. It doesn't matter. And you probably won't see it on their faces. Have you checked in with friends and family to see how they are? Have you asked what you can do to help them through this period? At work, do you check in with your colleagues? If you're a people manager, are you taking your team's temperature, daily? Have you noticed changes in behavior? This is not a normal time and not everyone will work as normal. Help your people. Help those around you and it will be better for everyone. Another #ceasefire agreement, rejected by Hamas, who blame Israel (as usual) for moving the goal posts. According to Axios, Barak Ravid, Hamas rejects the new US bridge proposal, because of Benjamin Netanyahu's conditions, especially with regard to his refusal to stop the war and fully withdraw from Gaza and to continue to control the Philadelphia Corridor. In which the IDF found over 184 tunnels, many of which lead across the Egyptian border, some large enough to drive a lorry through. There are a lot of questions that we would love answers to. It is important to understand, that particulary in the Middle East whenever you are in negotiations it is like you are in a shuk or a bazaar. Negotiations are never over. No never means no. A rejection is never really a rejection. It's all part of the process and all in an effort to build leverage. Hamas, no doubt has its demands which is in itself quite remarkable for a group who launched an unprovoked war and is now losing that war to be making demands, yet they are holding our people in their terror tunnels, so they have leverage. But Hamas wants Israel out entirely out of Gaza, they want ot survive and in order for that to happen the war must end. Hamas is hoping that instead of putting political and economic pressure on themselves, the US (and everyone else) will continue to do what they have been doing and put pressure on Israel. #freegazafromhamas #letmypeoplego #bringthemhome
