Objection handling is so important. Take for example, the relaunch of my podcast. The Boagworld Show used to be huge. In 2010 it was getting about a quarter of a million downloads. Those were big numbers back then. You would think therefore that bringing it back would be a slam dunk. But the problem is that although all those original listeners look back on it very fondly, they also think they have outgrown it. The stuff we taught back then was basic by today's standards. Of course, I have moved on in my career too and so the stuff I teach today is much more advanced including: - User experience design - Digital Marketing - Conversion optimization - Content strategy - Running an agency - Running in-teams But in my audiences eyes I am stuck in 2010. I therefore need to address that objection. Loads of salespeople think they have a champion in their deals. But dig deeper, and you'll find they don't. In a coaching session with a sales rep from a large SaaS company, we analysed one of their deals. "Do you have a champion?" "Yeah, a really solid one." "Great. Let's validate this. Did they disclose pain and the impact of not acting?" "Yes, they're 40% short of required lead flow, and if they don't fix it, their next investment round is at risk." "Have they shared information openly?" "Yeah, it's never felt difficult getting them to open up." "Do they follow through on commitments? Keep meetings, respond to your communications?" "By and large, yes." "Do they promote you internally to others?" "Hmmm, well, they still talk pretty positively about the competition. They haven't told us we are their preferred vendor." And that's when we knew they didn't have a champion. You can't have a champion if they aren't championing you. Just because someone shares their problems, is responsive, and seems interested doesn't mean they are flying your flag. I used to think every prospect who took a next step with me was a 'champion.' How wrong I was. Take a look at your deals today. Ask yourself if you REALLY have a champion.

Want to sign more clients through LinkedIn? Guarantee your offer. A lot of people talk a big game on here. 'I booked 100 sales calls in the last month' 'I will book you 10 calls next week' 'I signed 10 clients for my client last month' Sure. If you are really confident in your service - guarantee your results. Agree on a KPI to reach and if you don't then insert a clause. I'm a LinkedIn ghostwriter - a space absolutely flooded right now. Everyone claiming the above. But very few actually guaranteeing it. I make an agreement with all my clients that I will sign them X clients in X days or I work for free until I do. For real. Putting my money where my mouth is. If a ghostwriter is pitching you a package of $2500-$5000 per-month without a guarantee... They are full of shit.

A way to win at outbound that the LinkedIn Sales gurus won't tell you... Do the hard work consistently over time. And don't stop. If you decide to play the game of Outbound, you have to realise you are entering an ultra-marathon. You can't just turn up, get a tenth of the way there and say that you've done "enough running" to be able to stop. People do not become interested in you or your product overnight Lead generation does not work that way. In the "lead generation" phase, your prospects are already at the buying table. Therefore, your attempts to capture the 3% in the market to buy come too late. Which in turn means that you might be expected to: • Offer reduced pricing to compete against whom they have already shortlisted • Tick boxes against their buying criteria, putting them in control Instead focus on understanding, developing, disqualifying and nurturing your market. Enter conversations from a position of curiosity. Learn how your prospects are getting the job done without you today. Follow up religiously and provide insights based on your expertise. You will find customers along the way who will be ready to move to you at that time. The rest will come to you over time when they are ready to make the leap. Just make sure you are there to capture them when they are.

Harsh truth. Building your sales page is only half the job. Letting it sit untouched and hoping for sales won’t cut it. You need to: • Analyse behaviour: Pay attention to where people drop off or get stuck to understand their journey.    • Tweak and refine, 1 thing at a time, use the data: Rarely does a sales page hit the mark on the first go.    • Keep optimising: It’s an ongoing process. The market changes, your audience evolves, and your page should too. STOP thinking your sales page is “done” after hitting publish. START approaching it as a work in progress, a project that evolves to better serve your clients and grow your business. Don't give up after the first iteration; the magic lies in continuous refinement.
