We are officially counting down the days until we land in NYC for this year's, SMU International, on the 10th of March. Aoife Kearns will join Sam Johnston and Dublin Convention Bureau to connect with industry leaders and showcase what makes Dublin and The CCD a standout destination for international meetings and events. In the lead up to St Patrick's Day, we're excited to continue strengthening the connection and partnership between Ireland and the US and bringing even more opportunities to Dublin. Will you be attending? Make sure you drop by and say Hi!
Building relationships and providing guidance to Event Managers and Marketers on the best space to deliver successful business events at The Worlds Leading Convention Centre💡
This day next month I'll be waking up in one of my favourite cities, New York! Myself and Sam Johnston from Dublin Convention Bureau are in town to attend Northstar Meetings Group - SMU International. One of the best parts of this role is making new connections and setting the scene for Dublin and The Convention Centre Dublin (The CCD) as a world class meetings destination. When I think of being in New York on the lead up to St. Patrick's Day, it's hard not to think of our ancestors, the journey they made and the strong roots they laid down that are still evident to this day. Random fact: Annie Moore, was the first person to be processed on Ellis Island. Annie was a 17-year-old girl from County Cork, Ireland. She arrived with her brothers on January 1, 1892, and was given a $10 gold coin to mark the occasion. Today, there are statues of Annie both at Ellis Island and in Cobh, Ireland, symbolizing the strong connection between Ireland and New York City.

More than a billion people across the globe are living with a disability, and so creating experiences that are accessible to everyone is of upmost importance. This number accounts for 15% of the global population who may face difficulty participating in events if inclusivity is not taken into account. We all have a responsibility to ensure everyone is welcome and comfortable to immerse themselves in all aspects of an event. From the beginning, The CCD has been focused on creating a venue that provides a like-for-like experience to all guests, regardless of ability.

While #veganuary has come to a close for many, our commitment to sustainability is here to stay! At The CCD, plant-based dining isn’t just for January—it’s a core part of our approach to sustainable, inclusive catering all year round. As our Culinary Director, Leonard Fearon, highlights below, vegan dishes stand proudly alongside meat and fish on our menus, offering diverse and delicious options that meet the expectations of our clients and delegates. Sustainable hospitality goes beyond plant-based offerings. From sourcing local ingredients to reducing food waste and minimising plastic, we’re constantly innovating to create exceptional dining experiences with a lower environmental impact. Whether it’s a fully plant-based event or simply more choice for your delegates, we’re here to deliver food that’s good for people and the planet. 🌍💚
This #Veganuary, we spoke to our Culinary Director, Leonard Fearon, to explore the profound impact of veganism on menu design, ingredient sourcing, and the evolving skill set of our chefs and food service professionals. His insights highlight the necessity for innovation and adaptability in today’s culinary landscape. 🌱 "The rise of veganism has revolutionised Levy Ireland's approach to food. Plant-based dishes aren’t an afterthought; they stand alongside meat and fish as equals. Our menus are inclusive and offer diverse, delicious plant-based options – that's what our clients expect and what we’re proud to serve. We love creating plant-based dishes, but sustainability is about much more than just plant-based options. It encompasses sourcing local ingredients, prioritising ethical practices, and minimising food waste and plastic usage. We're educating our diners about the impact of their choices, showcasing the incredible potential of plant-based cuisine, and creating memorable dining experiences for all."
