This is the second 'is SaaS dead?' article I've written in as many years, and, unsurprisingly, it's still premature to call time on this sector, which continues to evolve. Increasing automation and no-code services have been touted by some as an extinction-level event, but not for companies who are prepared to shift in the direction of travel their clients are going. Not in a reactive way, but methodically, as in the case of Keelvar who, Alan Holland tells me, is already seeing almost three-quarters of interactions on its platform operated by AI agents. This is the result of the company's foresight, having produced a whitepaper on AI five years ago. And then there are the SaaS newcomers positioned to capitalise on these changes, such as Sulu, a Dogpatch Labs start-up from Susan O'Neill and Samuel A., which is both facilitating the monetisation of usage-based AI products and enabling AI agents to make payments online. All these changes are sure to be discussed at the next SaaStock in Dublin, and the event's founder Alexander Theuma seeing that the outlook from the sector is becoming more positive.
