Women of Steel: Celebrating Leadership, Innovation, and Collaboration Last week, Brady Hughes Consulting had the privilege of attending the Women of Steel event, hosted by Irish Steel and led by its President, Sandra Byrne of EliteForm Manufacturing Ltd. This inspiring gathering was the first in Irish Steel’s 2025 regional event series, and it truly set the bar high! The day began with an exclusive tour of Eliteform Manufacturing, where we delved into the company’s rich history and saw first hand the cutting-edge machinery behind their global manufacturing success. Witnessing the precision and expertise involved in their operations was a powerful reminder of the innovation driving Ireland’s steel industry. The afternoon brought us to Bellingham Castle, where we connected with a phenomenal group of women over great food and even greater conversations. The highlight of the event? A panel of five incredible speakers, including TD Paula Butterly, Anne-Marie Hannon (Blackhall Financial Services), Mary Seery Kearney (Purple Tree), and Dr. Delma Byrne (Maynooth University)—each of whom shared invaluable insights on leadership, innovation, and overcoming barriers in traditionally male-dominated industries. 💡 Key takeaways from the day: ✔ Innovation & AI are creating exciting new opportunities in the industry. ✔ Leadership is about people—as Mary Seery Kearney emphasized, great leaders understand their teams, build trust, and foster collaboration. ✔ Breaking silos and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration leads to stronger, more dynamic teams. ✔ Bias in STEM starts early—Dr. Delma Byrne shared research highlighting how girls' mathematical abilities are often underestimated due to societal stereotypes, which can impact confidence and career choices in fields like engineering and manufacturing. Being in a room filled with such accomplished and resilient women was nothing short of inspiring. In a traditionally male-dominated field, this event was a powerful testament to the strength, expertise, and leadership of women in the steel and manufacturing industries. A huge thank you to Sandra Byrne, Irish Steel, and all the incredible speakers who made this event a success. Looking forward to seeing the continued impact of the Women of Steel series! #WomenOfSteel #Leadership #Innovation #STEM #Manufacturing #BradyHughesConsulting #Networking
