After the Storm: Irish Red Cross in Action As the red alert lifted following record-breaking Storm Eowyn, Irish Red Cross volunteers sprang into action. Their priority was conducting a rapid assessment of the hardest-hit areas. Volunteers from 73 branches visited 76 community-based humanitarian hubs, connecting with locals to assess needs and priorities. Key concerns? 🚨 🔹 Rural isolation 🏡 🔹 Households at risk of poverty 📉 Nationally, the Irish Red Cross was invited to join the Emergency Co-ordination Committee, ensuring a targeted response to support the most vulnerable. Over two weeks, volunteers carried out 551 Welfare Checks across nine counties, identifying urgent needs like power, water, and medical support. When help was needed, the Red Cross mobilised service providers to take action. In times of crisis, community matters. A massive thank you to our volunteers for their dedication!
