“Ireland has an excellent relationship with the US, based on our longstanding historical and cultural ties, our shared history and values.” Minister Niamh Smyth TD Minister of State at the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment with special responsibility for Trade Promotion, Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation delivered the keynote address at AmCham’s 2025 Global Business Conference today. Minister Smyth highlighted the significant impact of US companies to the Irish enterprise pool "US companies are significant to our enterprise pool. They support our status as a competitive and pro-business economy, and they account for around 900 IDA client companies, which is half of their overall client base." Minister Smyth pointed to the two-way nature of this relationship: “Ireland is the 6th largest investor into the US, the 3rd largest from the EU, which shows that this is certainly a two-way relationship.” Minister Smyth highlighted the advantages of the ease of access to high quality talent in Ireland “Ireland is one of the best performers in the EU in terms of human capital.” She continued, with the highest number of STEM graduates per capita in the EU, Ireland is also well situated to “build on a foundation of a very strong academic-led approach to developing AI talent.” Looking to the ecosystem in Ireland which includes the universities, the research system, the enterprise support system, the startups and the multinationals based here, Minister Smyth concluded Ireland “has created a thriving environment for cross pollination of ideas and innovation” and has become “deeply embedded in global value chains”. She continued that this has created “a huge opportunity for indigenous businesses.” AmCham’s Global Business Conference is sponsored by Bank of America with The Irish Times as the official media partner and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce as US conference partner. #AmChamGlobalBiz25

Minister Peter Burke is leading Tourism Ireland’s sales mission to the West Coast of the United States this week. The ‘Best of Ireland’ sales mission will visit key cities for tourism, including Seattle, San Francisco, Newport Beach and San Diego. He will meet key Enterprise Ireland and IDA Ireland clients and undertake commercial meetings to drive partnership and tourism growth over the coming years. Minister Burke said: “Tourism is and will continue to be an incredibly important industry for the island of Ireland, an industry that sustains our communities and drives development in our regions. Tourism has just recently been added to the portfolio of my Department, underscoring the importance of the sector as a key economic driver and employer. The Irish Government is fully committed to tourism, in terms of both development and marketing. I am delighted to be here in the United States on my first official overseas engagement with Tourism Ireland. The United States is one of our top markets and the expansion of Tourism Ireland’s presence on the ground here will ensure we continue to grow business to Ireland over the coming years. As we look ahead, the latest round of Tourism Ireland research gives us cause for optimism. The research, carried out here in the US and in seven other important tourism markets, shows that the desire to travel is stronger than ever. It also shows that Ireland continues to be seen as a destination that offers versatility for holidaymakers of all ages – where they can enjoy both indoor and outdoor activities.” Read more – https://lnkd.in/eG938wP5 #tourismireland #tourismisteamwork #BuildingBetterBusiness

Fáilte Ireland has announced the first 17 projects, worth almost €2.9million, to be awarded funding under its Investment Grant-Aid Scheme for Private and Community SMEs. Co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the EU through the EU Just Transition Fund, these are the first successful private and community SME projects to receive funding under the scheme with more to be announced on a rolling basis in the coming weeks and months, as evaluations of applications are completed. The 17 projects include innovative and sustainable visitor experiences, development of low-carbon tourist accommodation and Accessibility enhancements to provide a more inclusive visitor experience. Initiatives like the EU Just Transition Fund are essential for generating new opportunities for employment and sustaining local communities by creating more reasons for domestic and international tourists to visit Ireland’s Hidden Heartlands and Ireland’s Ancient East.
