🥈🥈🥈 #EpiHerd is highly commended at the Tesco Agri T-Jam competition! September has been packed with so many cool events, so we're a little late to break this news. However, Antler Bio was recently a finalist in Tesco's Agri T-Jam competition. Although we didn't take home the top prize 🥇 , which went to worthy winners Precision Seafood Harvesting, André Pinkert and #FloMo, we were one of two highly commended finalists picked out by the judges, which was awesome. A huge thank you to Tesco, Leading Edge Only, the judging panel and everyone involved in organising the Agri T-Jam. It was a great event and we hope exciting things will follow off the back of it.

📆 Not long now until Cambridge Tech Week, where the Antler Bio team will be showcasing the latest updates to our #EpiHerd platform during #InnovationAlley on Tuesday 10th September. On the same afternoon, Andy Lessey will have to be sharp at the Founders Live event hosted by UHY Hacker Young (East) from 3:00pm, with just 99-seconds to pitch followed by questions directly from the audience. We look forward to seeing as many people on the day as possible and please come and visit our stand to discover the impact of #EpiHerd on livestock farming.

🚨 Antler Bio has won a new grant... After having to sit on this news for several months, we're delighted to finally be able to announce that we have been awarded our largest grant yet from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Farming Innovation Programme, delivered by Innovate UK. The project, successful in the Small R&D Partnerships Round 3 competition, aims to enhance and broaden the impact of our state-of-the-art herd screening platform, #EpiHerd. This expansion will focus on optimising the development and rearing of dairy calves and heifers—an often overlooked aspect of animal management with lifelong implications for animal health and welfare, efficiency, and sustainability. A big thank you to #Defra and to our collaborators on the project Jasmeet Kaler, the University of Nottingham, Sarah Nightingale and the UK Agri-Tech Centre. We promise to share exciting updates as the project progresses...

“We all have some outstanding cows within our herds, but even those usually have some traits that we don’t like. To be able to test and identify those traits in future generations would be a massive aid.” New article on an Antler Bio & UK Agri-Tech Centre project to identify which cattle genes can be naturally improved by implementing changes to animal management and husbandry. This has the potential to boost productivity and reduce emissions for the dairy sector. Antler Bio visited NZ as part of the 2023 Innovate UK #agritech delegation & made great connections. Hot off the press is this excellent scientific report on how #animal #health impacts on #livestock #emissions. It highlights the opportunity for emissions reductions from improved animal health as well as inherent efficiency of high health status farmed livestock. Good livestock health is a key route to reducing emissions. Congratulations to Ilias Kyriazakis and his co-authors on getting this important paper published. Make the effort to read their Recommendations in Section 6, particularly the need for common standards for, and sharing of, data. Job Alert: looking for a senior research technician to join our team. The role will focus on supporting delivery of funded Innovate projects that aim to develop a novel, epigenomics-driven platform, EPIHERD, for UK dairy farmers. In this pioneering study we will decipher the baseline and dynamic range of gene-expression, including novel biomarkers we've already identified and translate to actionalable insights via analysis a herd's epigenomic data with meta and performance data, using sophisticated bioinformatics, machine-learning and artificial intelligence.
