    <para>
     La funzione <function>substr_compare</function> confronta <parameter>main_str</parameter>
     dalla posizione <parameter>offset</parameter> con la stringa <parameter>str</parameter>
     per <parameter>length</parameter> caratteri di lunghezza.
    </para>
    <para>
     Restituisce &lt; 0 se <parameter>main_str</parameter> dalla posizione
     <parameter>offset</parameter> è minore di <parameter>str</parameter>, &gt;
     0 se è maggiore di <parameter>str</parameter>, e 0 se sono uguali.
     Se <parameter>length</parameter> è uguale o maggiore della lunghezza di
     <parameter>main_str</parameter> ed è impostato il parametro <parameter>length</parameter>,
     <function>substr_compare</function> visualizza un warning e restituisce &false;.

     Se <parameter>case_insensitivity</parameter> è &true;, il confronto non distingue
     tra lettere maiuscole e minuscole.
