I don't understand the Premium Requests table!

I'm paying for GitHub Copilot Pro. I'm supposed to have 300 Premium Requests. Does that mean I can only use 300 Claude 3.7 Sonnet messages in agent mode/chat?

What is the base model? For a moment, I thought the base model was GPT-4o.

Please @Akash1134 could we get some sort of clarification on what premium requests means? The docs now are so confusing.

What is the "base model"? Is it something proprietary or just 4o throttled?

Can we get the math behind the "premium requests multiplier"? I use probably 100-150 requests per day.

The way the documentation reads this makes it look like I'm going to have 2-3 days of premium requests and then I'm going to be paying $4/day after unless I want to use some model you guys won't even name that's worse than 4o. Which is a $100/mo price hike for business/pro users if they want to be productive.

It needs clarification 🙏

Here you go guys. For instance, if you stick with using claude 3.7 thinking model, it is not 300 chats per month, but 240 as it consumes 1.25 premium requests

Honestly, 300 requests are really too few.
I think 500 requests per month are more reasonable for general use.

Moreover, you haven't provided information about the base model.
If the model is bad, how are we supposed to use it?

Where did you even find how to upgrade to Pro+? I've been all over our org settings in github, including the billing areas, and it just shows me our existing GitHub Copilot Business option and nothing about upgrading to Pro+.

I was checking out Cursor's plans and it offers unlimited slow requests for Claude 3.7, so I think it's a better option than Copilot. 🤔

I see a lot of people say slow requests are typically only delayed by a few seconds at most. Some people report almost no delay at all, even.

It depends on the time of the day and the period of the year. I have used Cursor for a year, there was some months where the slow request were the same as the fast request, and other where the slow request were barely usable. You can't really depends on them. So that's why you will see different experience. Usually when it gets bad, you will see a lot of people complains on their forums about it. Their peak time is asian time for some reason. So if you use in North America timezone you will have a better experience in general on the slow request. But yeah, you can use a lot of them, it's really unlimited.

I’m using Cursor and Windsurf for iOS development, but I’ve faced several issues—especially with Synthetics and compiler not building properly. However, the Copilot Agent performs much better. It understands context more accurately and introduces fewer bugs or issues. That said, I hit the access limit after just one hour, which is really strange.

Can't wait for Jules from google to come out.. hopefully adding some big boy competition against github; curious to see if they also adopt monthly requests limits - although knowing their existing API limits - it's likely to be liberal - keeping AI studio API rate limits (minute/hour) vs monthly boundaries.. I believe it will also be a coding sft/RL specialized model.

This pricing change smells like a desperate cash grab from GitHub - especially given how vague they are about the details.

I have reviewed the GitHub Copilot documentation and performed some straightforward calculations, and quite frankly, the results are extremely disappointing.

According to the documentation, using Claude 3.7 Sonnet Thinking is rated at 1.25 units per request. If I'm a Copilot Pro user with a quota of 300 units per month, that translates to 240 requests total. Dividing that by 30 days, it means I'm limited to only 8 requests per day.

This feels less like a premium AI service and more like an aggressively limited trial — especially considering the subscription is marketed as a "Pro" tier. I understand there are costs involved in providing high-quality models, but the current limits feel severely misaligned with both expectations and the pricing.

I urge the Copilot team to seriously reconsider this quota model. We're willing to pay for quality — but we also expect fairness.

I also purchased JetBrains AI Assistant as a comparison. While its capabilities may lag behind in some areas, at least the model usage is not restricted by hard limits. Their approach appears to be dynamically balanced, rather than relying on a rigid quota — and certainly doesn't result in an awkward situation where users are limited to just 8 requests per day.

Considering that Copilot's integration with JetBrains products is still less seamless than that of JetBrains' own assistant, this quota model may actually push power users to switch to JetBrains AI Assistant. And let's not forget other potential competitors like Cursor, who are rapidly gaining ground.

I signed up for the Pro+ yearly subscription as soon as it was announced in mid-April. Unfortunately, it's been a big disappointment, as I run into rate limit exceeded messages despite using the tool sparingly. There's no information in the billing and licensing page on github, so I have no idea why I'm being rate limited. Can I get a pro-rated refund for the Pro+ subscription, considering this product is not ready for release?

Subscribed to pro + except gpt4.1 and gpt4o none of the other models works. Getting 400, 500, no response errors back to back but the usage report says the premium request is used. At this time it is not worth paying for this product. Raised few support tickets and they close the tickets saying it will be fixed and developers are into the issue.

Any selection change merely refreshes the page without saving the setting. Because I can't complete the configuration, I can't use it in Visual Studio or VS Code. I also tried another browser, another network, and my phone with no settings saved, so it's definitely related to my Pro+ subscription.

I wanted to share an update we just rolled out for your GitHub Copilot experience: monthly premium request allowances are now in effect for all paid Copilot plans! This change is designed to give you more transparency and control over your premium Copilot usage.

What’s changed?

The monthly allowance of premium requests per user is now enforced for Copilot Pro, Pro+, Business, and Enterprise plans. Premium requests unlock a selection of advanced AI models and features—usage varies by model.

What’s unchanged?

All paid plans still include unlimited use of GPT-4.1 and GPT-4o for agent mode and chat interactions, plus unlimited code completions! Please note that rate limits may still apply across all models.

Managing Your Premium Requests

• Monthly Allowances: These reset on the 1st of each month. For this first billing cycle, your premium request counters have all started fresh at zero.
• Pay-Per-Request Option: Need more premium requests? You can set a spending limit in your billing settings (default limit is $0).
• Usage & Billing Controls: Monitor your real-time premium request usage via the Copilot status icon in your IDE, or download detailed usage reports in your billing settings. If you have licenses from multiple organizations, you can select which entity to bill.

besides, the claude series are the only ones good for agent mode, and its limited to 300.

This whole situation has been incredibly frustrating.

Previously, under the Pro plan, there was a daily request limit, which at least allowed me to pace my usage. I could work in focused bursts, knowing that after a short wait, I could resume again. It wasn’t perfect, but it was manageable.

Then came the change: the introduction of a monthly cap of 300 requests for Pro users. I hit that wall quickly. Thinking the new Pro+ plan with its 1,500 monthly requests would be a meaningful upgrade, I upgraded, only to burn through all of it within just two days of regular work.

So now, the experience feels significantly worse:
• The Pro plan was downgraded.
• The Pro+ plan, despite the price hike, offers no meaningful improvements or additional benefits, just a higher cap that still doesn’t meet the needs of heavy users like me.
• What used to be a functional workflow (waiting 4 hours, then working 2 hours straight) has now become unworkable. I can’t even get through a single day without maxing out my usage.

What’s most frustrating is that I recently committed to annual billing, expecting consistency or improvement. Instead, I’m stuck in a more expensive plan that delivers a worse experience than what I had before.

Your "premium" request limits ARE WAY OFF - even with Pro+, you might as well have a 10x multiplier on the Agent with how much you have to have it correct itself, and how many "premium requests" it uses each freaking time. WTF are you guys doing.

Same, the current limitations are very outrageous, and copilot is completely unable to support a basic development, which seems to force us to upgrade pro+ or try other competitors.

I opened a support ticket but it's taking a long time to get an answer.
I paid copilot pro 3 months ago, for the whole year.
I tried to purchase copilot pro + but paypal had an issue and the payment failed.

It downgraded me to copilot free and I lost my copilot pro that I paid for!!!

Please fix this bug and refund my lost days.
