Starting 19:00 UTC (12pm Pacific / 3pm Eastern) today, July 10th, we’re making our pricing simpler and more predictable. Copilot coding agent will now use exactly one Copilot premium request per session.

How sessions work

A session begins when you ask the coding agent to:

  • Create a new pull request.
  • Make changes to an existing pull request.

The entire session—regardless of how many files are modified or how complex the task is—uses one premium request.

Note: The agent runs on GitHub Actions. While premium request usage is now fixed, the GitHub Actions minutes used will still vary depending on how long Copilot needs to complete your task.

What this means for you

  • Predictable premium requests usage: Know exactly how many premium requests you’ll use before you delegate a task. One session equates to one premium request.
  • More value: Delegate up to 20x more tasks to Copilot within your monthly allowance of premium requests.
