  35 returns a pointer to a string giving information about the version of
  36 the libpcap library being used.  The string begins with the words "libpcap
  37 version".  Then follows the version, which consists of three dot-separated
  38 numbers and the optional "-PRE-GIT" suffix to indicate a development
  39 snapshot, same as in the output of
  40 .B "pcap-config --version"
  41 in sufficiently recent libpcap releases.  After the version often follows
  42 additional text to indicate particular features.  For example:
