The GIZ Green Business Competitions Graduation & Induction event marked an important milestone as we celebrated the remarkable achievements of our graduands and welcomed 31 new businesses into the incubation programme. In her address, Ruka Sanusi, Executive Director of GCIC, highlighted that the graduating businesses exemplify how profitability and sustainability can thrive together, reinforcing that their courage and dedication are vital for the future of our planet. Christian Jahn, Head of Programme for PFS at GIZ Ghana, encouraged the incoming cohort to see themselves not just as entrepreneurs but as leaders shaping the next generation. He challenged them to aim high and break barriers, emphasizing that Ghana needs bold innovators, not just business owners. This event was a powerful reminder of the potential of green entrepreneurship to shape a more sustainable future. As the second cohort proceeds, we look forward to witnessing even more climate-smart innovation, impact, and transformation. Clean cooking is essential for Ghana’s health, environment, and economy. Over 54% of households still rely on traditional biomass fuels, posing risks to public health and contributing to environmental degradation. The recent GCIC Policy Paper, titled "Accelerating the Transition to Clean Cooking Approaches in Ghana: An Assessment of Challenges, Strategies, and Reforms Required," evaluates Ghana’s clean cooking sector, identifying key challenges and providing actionable strategies to drive widespread adoption. The report highlights case studies from Rwanda, Uganda, and Kenya, showcasing successful clean cooking initiatives through public-private partnerships, policy incentives, and subsidy programs. It recommends expanding financial mechanisms to support manufacturers, strengthening distribution networks and infrastructure, enhancing public awareness and education, promoting gender-inclusive approaches, and facilitating government-private sector collaboration. With the right policies, investment, and collaboration, Ghana can accelerate the clean cooking transition, improve public health, and drive sustainability. 🔗 Read the full policy paper and be part of the change: https://bit.ly/4iqB5kJ #CleanCooking #Sustainability #GreenInnovation #ClimateAction Francis Kemausuor Gloria Boafo-Mensah Akwasi Adu-Poku, PhD
