At SAP, diversity and inclusion are core values that shape our decision-making and business success. #Diversity is a fact, not just a buzzword. However, managing a diverse team can be challenging, as it requires a commitment to understanding different perspectives! Diversity in teams, including varied cultural backgrounds and experiences, is crucial as it widens the lens through which problems are viewed and solutions are developed.  This diversity helps prevent the echo chamber effect, where similar opinions bounce around without critical evaluation. In "The Psychology of Stupidity," the concept of homogeneous teams is explored within the broader context of human cognitive biases and group dynamics.  The book emphasizes that homogeneous teams tend to reinforce their own biases and make more errors in judgment.  This occurs because such teams lack the diversity needed to challenge prevailing assumptions and introduce new viewpoints, which can lead to groupthink and poor decision-making​. Kudos to some of the outstanding managers who cultivated the spirit that different is good. Their commitment to embracing diversity in teams not only fostered an inclusive environment but also encouraged innovative thinking and creative problem-solving. It's thanks to their leadership that we learned to appreciate the value of varied perspectives and experiences, ultimately leading to stronger, more effective teams. What makes #Work fun? People. A level playing field with mutual respect. A vision or goal to reach. It’s not a team of experts. It’s a team where each brings the best of themselves to make a stronger whole. Have you had these work experiences? It’s magical when it happens. At #AirProducts I experienced this in building the first SAP support team. . .in implementing #SAPHCM … at #ASUG in building a volunteer led community that created a platform for on-premise customers to transition to #cloud #SuccessFactors . . . At #Rizing in pulling diverse companies together into one common message. I remember this team of #HRpunks too. And their energy ignited me as a customer too. I think a large part of engagement like this is allowing people to be free to be creative, have fun, and to realize goals thru diversity of thought. #RechargeHR #diversity #employeeengagement
