From the bustling streets of London to the glamour of Hollywood, with a picturesque stop in Paris, we brought this vision to life in an ultra-realistic timelapse that left everyone wanting more. ➡ The challenge? Seamlessly blending the precision of scaffolding construction with the timelapse effect. We studied, modeled, and meticulously crafted every movement: 🛠️ Each crane’s motion. 👷 Every worker’s step. 🔩 Every bar of scaffolding. This level of detail made the final result stunning, leaving the audience eager for the full reveal. As a pre-seed, seed, or even at series A, companies should ask themselves: "Will it become a 100 mio ARR company?" I had an inspiring (for me) conversation with Tycho Klessens from Peak on the topic. In most cases, the answer surprisingly is 🚫. We see this in the current wave, being AI now too... Why is this? And why do VCs say no - or when you should say no to VCs... ❌ A 20th FOMO exact copy of a copy of a copy (you see that a lot - A LOT). ❌ Not unique or disruptive enough, despite not being an exact copy ❌ The cap table is more often than not a real nightmare ❌ The product itself and the product-market fit ❌ Not being able to retain a continuous go-to-market fit ❌ The founders are key (will they take it to 100 mio, really?) Now this only means, Venture Capital may not be the way forward, in any of those cases, let alone a combination of multiple, up to sometimes all (perfect storms). But there are tons of great businesses, which are then destined for another path. From private equity to angel investors to going bootstrapped. Someone I consider as a friend throughout the years, the iconic duo Stefan Smulders with his co-founder Glenn Miseroy is an amazing example of such great things, with Expandi.io. Few can accomplish that. Top sport. It's nothing less than absolutely masterly how they managed to scale to 9 mio ARR throughout the years, now going to 10. I feel obliged to cheer, every time I hear more great news of another milestone reached - they're doing it, every day throughout the years. Consistently consistent. But without going for the VC model. Imagine they would have raised (and raised again). They would have given up a lot - and according to that is required in terms of growth performance, who knows where the company or they would be right now? This is a GOLDEN example of how VC isn't always the best way forward. So ask yourself, is your company going to scale to 100 mio ARR? In the required timeframe? Otherwise, you're playing with absolute fire - and another path might be more feasible. Yet end of the runway - a lot of people don't think straight, they're in survival mode. It's not because a VC would give you money, it's the smartest move to take it... Something to think about. Not to mention those 20 FOMO businesses out there that are merely not unique enough. Not everyone is Expandi.io, unfortunately. And taking the money is one thing - but earning it back, at the expected rates, is another... And most start-ups and scale-ups will never do 100 mio ARR, let alone become a "unicorn". It's all fun and games, start-ups, raising funding - until you have to deliver ROI. And you have to be able to deliver on that ROI. Otherwise, what's the point?

This is a exciting week in Montreal: hundreds of impact driven professionals are getting together at the “Sommet de la Finance Durable” to challenge themselves, reflect and learn how to deliver real positive impact at the scale and pace it is needed. I could not join them this time, unfortunately. Still, I’d like to share a few things I have learned on this topic through my own impact journey with Fondaction Gestion d’Actifs (FGA): https://lnkd.in/ezSTpwvq When I joined FGA as Chief Impact Officer almost a year ago, I had one clear goal: take what I learned working with ESG & Impact standard setters and as IMM practitioner & advisor, into FGA business practices to drive long lasting impact on people and the planet. Still, one thought haunted me: “Having impact is great, but, how do we know what is the best we can do?” Given its commitment and enormous potential, how can FGA maximize its contribution to the SDGs? This question has guided my journey and work with FGA. On the interview I share more on our ESG & Impact approach, and the choices we made to ensure impact is embedded on the way we do business and invest across FGA. "Expense management isn’t just about processing receipts. It’s become a complex workflow that needs to balance compliance, control, and transparency." – Thibaud De Keyzer, Mobilexpense. Every product and service is going through a transformation, but I find, that sometimes we apply new technology before looking at the whole workflow and understanding where we can streamline the whole process. In my experience, by reviewing the whole process we can simplify and solve more problems than we even planned for. I experienced this in one of my financial projects in the past, where we were able to leverage an existing platform and streamline the feedback delivery process across the frontline. The ultimate goal Thibaud and his team are after is touchless expense management. Here are some key takeaways: → Integration and Localization For international operations, integrating expense management with various financial and compliance systems is crucial, especially with different regulations across regions. → Implementing AI AI-driven workflows that provide real-time insights, improve compliance and enhance operational efficiency. Companies now expect expense tools to be proactive, offering predictive capabilities and automated compliance. → Automation and Visibility Moving towards full automation and enhanced visibility for error prevention, predictive insights, and compliance management will lead to significant ROI gain through streamlined processes and improved employee satisfaction. I also had the pleasure of having a discussion with Thibaud during the speaker dinner, where we had a terrific discussion about how he is driving an inclusive work environment, why it is important to him and how he puts trust in his team to deliver…and they do! Meeting one customer in person is nice, working with 6 an entire day is better. Last spring, we launched our first Customer Advisory Board (CAB) session, hosted at the LVMH offices. Here's the recap of the Autumn edition from October. With such an intimate group, the proximity allowed us to talk not only business but also get to know each other on a more personal level. That’s the real game-changer—Building connection to understand how they actually work and what we can do to value that work. First realization: with Enterprise, it's not just about solving customer problems, it's also about giving them "wins" internally. The agenda varies, but it's always simple : - Present numbers, strategy, insights. - Share short term roadmap - Gather insights on potential product improvements. As usual, lots of digressions and questions, some of which we didn’t anticipate at all, which is totally the point of those long sessions. For this session, specifically, we realized that some features (like our emailing system), that we take for granted, are actually huge painkillers. We need to make them more evident. We also realized how much is hidden in our product—Livestorm has grown bigger and complex while staying simple in appearance. However, many features were completely unknown to them, even though they could solve critical needs. Again, bad packaging. I could go on about all the insights we gained, but this highlights the importance of regularly creating these meeting opportunities. We optimized Livestorm around remote work, but for a few things, shaking hands is just as far you need to be. Hope this help 👋

With my co-founder Robin, we're still involved in 100% of recruitments for full-time positions. It's mainly to make sure of two things : 1. 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝘂𝘀. My Head of Operations has to be much better at operations and logistics than me (of course Alexandre is 😉). His product and supply manager, Tatiana, is better than him at R&D and industrialization, and so on... 2. 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 Hard skills are essential but, what makes people become top performers in our company, is sharing the same values and mentality. It's hard to detect during an interview and that's why we spend a lot of time and energy on it and surround ourselves with the best people (hey Jessica and Maud 👋)

It’s official: we launched fabric AI Order Cloud. This represents over a year of R&D with an aggressive roadmap and deep collaboration with our customers and partners, all pushing fabric to think differently. Christelle Flahaux and the team sum it up perfectly in this AI Order Cloud explainer video! https://lnkd.in/gq5JvZpv Umer Sadiq calls it a shift left strategy, moving #OMS to be demand aware (think placing real-time inventory or product data across your demand channels in real-time). Jay Topper calls this the heartbeat of a brand (OMS is central to everything). I call it awesome! Of the thousands of customer meetings I’ve had over my career in Commerce, I see three consistent patterns: 1. Complex, patchwork architectures to deliver the customer experience across an ever-growing set of demand and fulfillment channels. 2. OMS is at the center of everything, but based on a decades-old model of financial controls (think ERP) and not on a modern Unified commerce environment where customers demand an amazing customer experience at every touchpoint. 3. Customers are hesitant, if not petrified to make changes because of the criticality of OMS, and unknowns of their legacy tech even if improved outcomes are clear. At fabric, we dug deep and set out on a mission to disrupt the status quo, make OMS easy, and deliver what a modern retailer needs to thrive in today’s environment. I’m incredibly proud of the team's work. We listened to feedback and iterated with our design partners. Our AI work was designed not to be a new interface (it is an AI UX first design) but to provide an agentic model to guide operators in understanding the data that drives their business and enabling them to take action. The combination is a big step forward, and it's just the beginning. Thank you to our incredible team, especially Christelle Flahaux Kimberley Zatlyn Umer Sadiq Jay Topper Chirag Patel and Chandra Shekar Neti for your leadership and tenacity in challenging everything.
