HyLight (YC S23)

Last week, we flew two HyLighters at the same time for the first time ever! The feeling? Pure ENERGY. 🚀 Middle of summer, full sun, but the team at HyLight (YC S23) is moving faster than ever to meet what our clients need. Why did we do this? Our team is growing fast and we had two big things to test: → On one side, a brand new gas sensor for methane leak detection. → On the other, our new propulsion system to boost flight performance. I know one thing: what felt like a milestone yesterday will soon be our new normal. Proud of the team. Proud of how far we’ve come. But so much more to do. We’re not slowing down.

These are all the places I went to for work at HyLight (YC S23). Pretty nice work, right?  And, you can do it too! 7 countries. Hundreds of people met and relationships created. Hundreds of conversations for me to understand needs, issues, blocking points and how to make things work. All kinds of food (and beers) tasted. And, I know which country is the best! 🇪🇺 But, most importantly, a profound European connection with everyone. I work everyday with people who want to make Europe better, efficient, strong and sustainable. 3 years ago, I saw the first HyLighter taking off. 3 years after, we are hiring the first member of the business team at HyLight (YC S23). We built the first HyLighter with close to nothing. And, it was far from perfect. But it flew. Again and again. And, it allowed us to convince our first client to let HyLight inspect their infrastructure with a HyLighter. We are now looking for a person who wants to commit and to jump in an adventure. An adventure to sell a superior tech, which is not only better in terms of data precision but which also emits 0kg of CO2eq and 0 noise pollution. SNCF Réseau Collaborates with #RIEGL #LiDAR and HyLight to Ensure Sustainable Rail Inspection. SNCF Réseau continues to drive innovation to enhance the performance and safety of France’s national rail network. As part of a collaboration with #RIEGL and HyLight, initial tests were recently conducted using the HyLight airship, equipped with the #RIEGL VUX-120 #LiDAR sensor and the #RiLOC IMU-GNSS system. The system delivered highly accurate and exceptionally dense point clouds across a 100 km test track—exceeding the expectations of the project team. The attached photos offer a closer look at the technology and testing process. Last Monday, I shook hands with a former French president. Meeting François Hollande at La Base 217 was an unforgettable moment. We presented HyLight and its mission to revolutionize energy infrastructure inspections. He listened, supported us, and congratulated us on our progress. Base 217, celebrating its 10th anniversary, is where innovation happens. It’s been our home for two years, and every day we push the limits: → Testing the HyLighter → Improving its performance → Turning action into result The HyLighter isn’t just a drone. It’s a hydrogen-powered airship built to inspect energy infrastructure safely and sustainably. With each flight, our goal is clear: reduce CO2 emissions and protect our infrastructure. Next step? Il y a 1 an et 9 mois, HyLight réalisait sa toute première opération. 7 km inspectés en 24h. Mardi dernier, HyLight a réalisé une autre opération 105 km inspectés en 24h. 105 km avec la plus haute précision possible et sans émissions de gaz à effet de serre en vol. Merci à notre client SNCF Réseau pour sa confiance et son engagement pour l'innovation et la durabilité. Nous avons hâte de la suite ! ❓ Une question demeure ❓ Combien de kilomètres allons-nous parcourir en une journée l'année prochaine ?

Sur nos 2 800 km de lignes à grande vitesse, la surveillance est permanente, et nous explorons aujourd’hui de nouvelles solutions technologiques pour aller encore plus loin. Parmi elles, le dirigeable HyLight, développé et opéré en France, représente une avancée majeure. Électrique, silencieux, capable de voler lentement sur de longues distances avec une grande précision, il permet d’inspecter le réseau tout en réduisant significativement l’empreinte carbone de nos opérations. Une alternative prometteuse aux inspections par hélicoptère, plus lourdes et plus polluantes.
