Leading global action to fight money laundering and terrorist financing
À propos
The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) is an inter-governmental body established in 1989 by the Ministers of its Member jurisdictions. The objectives of the FATF are to set standards and promote effective implementation of legal, regulatory and operational measures for combating money laundering, terrorist financing and other related threats to the integrity of the international financial system. The FATF is therefore a “policy-making body” which works to generate the necessary political will to bring about national legislative and regulatory reforms in these areas.

This week the FATF Secretariat participated in a successful second forum of FATF Style Regional Bodies (FSRBs) in Strasbourg, hosted by MONEYVAL in collaboration with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. Representatives from seven FSRBs and the FATF gathered to exchange knowledge and strengthen global collaboration. Thanks to FSRBs, the FATF Global Network brings together more than 200 countries in the fight against illicit finance. The role of FSRBs is crucial to making the international financial system a defensive shield against criminals. The FATF has strengthened its global standards to combat the financing of the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction by requiring countries, financial institutions, Designated Non-Financial Businesses and Professions, and Virtual Asset Service Providers to identify, assess and understand proliferation financing (PF) risks. As part of this, we are conducting a comprehensive study to improve understanding of current PF risks and identify challenges and best practices for effective risk assessment and mitigation. 🗣️ The FATF invites contributions from the private sector and civil society for this study. 📅 Share your input by 21 March 2025. https://lnkd.in/eG6TeHAq #FATF #ProliferationFinancing #SanctionsEvasion #RiskAssessment
