Default The Thing (1982) - possible sequel teased by John Carpenter

A possible sequel to his 1982 masterpiece was teased by director John Carpenter.

He also discussed his recent return to the director's chair for a TV project, with his name in the title!

The GOAT returning to save the industry…….

…..although I think I’d rather him direct something new, instead of a sequel (which The Thing doesn’t really need). But if this is what actually gets him back in the director’s chair (theatrical release) then I’m all for it.

Ummmm. No thanks. Carpenters original film is just fine. Terrific ending. Besides, unless John avoids the BS then, well, never mind.

Always with the "need". You don't need to watch it, but I'll be there opening weekend.

Probably. Carpenter +The Thing, if that combo hasn't earned good will then nothing does.

To hear he directed his tv show remotely from home, I imagine him doing the same for a sequel. Which sounds super lazy but since it's JC I'm cool with that.

The remake is actually a prequel to Carpenter's The Thing, which is actually a remake of The Thing From Another World, but with the Thing 2011, the producers didn't change the title for some lazy reason maybe. Kind of like Suicide Squad and The Suicide Squad.

John Carpenter will have to get others to create this potential film, as he's long since retired at this point it seems. Would be cool if he wrote the story and script and made the film's score music.

I'd be interested in setting it in a new isolated area, maybe underground, but not again in the ice zones.

Sweet, we'd be in for an overall pretty fantastic trilogy. Hope that happens.

We can thank Xbox for having a not-so-great exclusive lineup this console generation.

We do never see for sure what happened to Fuchs.

Really though I think its the kind of Thing I'd only have much interest in if it looked like it was rising above the typical horror franchise level like the prequel, not a bad film IMHO but ot fit to light the flamethrower of the original.
