Hmm... in the interests of balance rather than trolling, may I say that I thought it was pretty dreadful? It managed to repeat most of the incidents in Carpenter's film but without any of the spirit or atmosphere.

You arent trolling thats a fair opinion. I thought they did a pretty good job myself, considering how much of a classic the original is. Perhaps a tad too much on the computer graphics

Well I went in with low expectations, avoided any press or trailers before seeing it.

I did enjoy the movie. Even though I like Ms Winstead I was wary of her appearing in this but she was very good.
[Show spoiler]And I thought the film lead nicely into John Carpenter's Thing.

If the movie doesn't feel as fresh in my head come March 26th a definite day 1 purchase for me.

It was average really could have been so much better. The ending and the credit sequence were decent though. It's not a patch on Carpenter's on Hawks' versions (which in a perfect world would be a MOC relase this year)

I'm still in doubt. I normally don't care for bad reviews or any of that but in the US thread this movie is burned down.

Although not a patch on Carpenter's flick, I still found much to enjoy in the prequel. Hopefully Planet Axel will start shipping the US version in the next few days.

Yeah. So why is this thread about pre-orders up, 26th March etc ?

Not keen on being teased for Blu's I want to add.

Watched this the other day. Absolutely hated it. Having only seen Carpenter's original recently, it made me hate it all the more. Cliched, boring and utterly unconvincing.

If you have seen the original versions, Carpenters and the 1950's film, then it is fair to say that you won't enjoy this film as much as the people who have not seen them.

I'm a massive fan of the Carpenters version so I had low expectations for this but I wasn't as disappointed with it as I thought I'd be. Waaaay too much cgi though, which I don't understand when they shot the film with practical effects and puppets. This vid shows the practical stuff:

Where in my post do I say it's available to pre-order yet?

Release dates for titles are almost always available quite a while before any pre-order is up, but it will be available to pre-order soon.

Sorry saw release date and then couldn't find it anywhere to book.

How do you get this info?

Anyway, am sorry. I do really appreciate the heads up. Thanks
