It looks as though Universal and using those slip cases for all of their triple plays now though (much like the latest Sony releases) so I wouldn't set your hopes too high I am afraid...

Jeez, that's a fairly quick turn-around, isn't it? I'm still thinking I need to get to the flicks to see this one.

(Or have I missed it already?)

I was thinking the same thing but if the blu release is only 2 months away and it looks to be a metal slip. I am more than happy to wait.

I guess I wanted to know whether it was worth buying or not by seeing it first ... but with cinema costs the way they are, it's probably just cheaper to buy the Blu-ray anyway.

Mind you, I've just checked the cinema session times for anywhere near where I live, and it's not listed anywhere. It's already gone?! In, like, two weeks?!!!

Hmmm.

(It's hard to tell from the website I usually go to. They've rejigged it for the social networking mindset, and it looks like a kiddie toy now. It's bloody unusable for finding anything but the movies "everybody else" is watching. Baahhhh!!!)

Unless it goes exclusive somewhere... it looks like the triple play has been canned.

That's a shame.. I'm starting to prefer buying releases that include a DVD.

Haha. Same, before I didn't really care but now I'd rather there be a DVD copy included.

My reason, a lot of my family do not have Blu-Ray players, and i'm usually the source for films for them when they want to watch something, so its good to be able to say, "I have a new release blu-ray, but it also has a DVD copy you can watch"..

Plus I still think DVD is very useful.. for other reasons I can't mention here.

Pretty much what Crumb said. Not all of my mates and family have made the jump to Blu-ray and if I want to talk about a certain film then I'll just lend them the DVD copy.

LordCrumb, Saints, ta for your replies. Makes a lot of sense.

My friends and family either couldn't give a toss about films (I know, it's weird - I figure I must have been given to the wrong parents in the maternity hospital) or else don't share my tastes in film at all (same assumed explanation), so I guess I've gotten out of the habit of thinking from the point of view of whether I need to share them or not. From that perspective, extra discs that I'm never going to even lift out of the case (except maybe to turf them out) actually become a bit of an annoyance.

Yer, the DVD is very useful, I find the digital copy pretty good at times. I like to put them on my iPad and stream them to an apple tv. The DVD I would use either in the car, might upgrade that to bluray or like everyone said lend them out.
I like the more disk,
