When she was appointed president and chief executive officer and elected to the board of directors in 2016, Tricia Griffith had already worked for Progressive for almost three decades. She joined the company as an entry-level claims representative in 1988, later taking on leadership roles including chief human resources officer, president of claims, and president of customer operations. Progressive’s revenue in 2023 grew by 25% compared with the previous year, a trajectory that has continued into 2024. The company recently announced plans to hire more than 10,000 people across the country. In August, Progressive launched a new purpose platform, Move Forward and Live Fully, focused on various community initiatives, including donations of refurbished vehicles to veterans, grants to small-business owners, and the creation of affordable homes. This year, Griffith led a group of influential businesswomen investing personal funds in a bid to bring a National Women’s Soccer League team to the city of Cleveland.
