Sergey Brin and Larry Page

With net worths estimated to be in the triple-digit billions, Google cofounders Sergey Brin and Larry Page could easily be relaxing on a remote island dabbling in startup investments between forays to Burning Man. But several years after the duo stepped away from day-to day involvement in the internet search giant and its Alphabet parent company, they’ve hardly retired. Brin is back at the Googleplex, drawn by the urge to help Google’s CEO get AI right. “As a computer scientist I’ve never seen anything as exciting,” Brin said at a conference in September. Brin was instrumental in Google making a deal to bring Noam Shazeer of Character.AI back to Google for a reported $2.7 billion. Page is also key—he has championed Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis and has also been a leader in non-Google tech investments. Given their stature, powerful platform, and prodigious amounts of capital to play with, expect to be hearing about the pair for years to come.
