If you’ve ever been to a drugstore, chances are you’ve run into a L’Oréal product. Its colorful lipsticks and foundations are a mainstay in makeup bags. Though he’s been CEO of L’Oréal for just three years, Nicolas Hieronimus has been working at the company for decades. Hieronimus started as a product manager in 1987 and worked his way up as general manager of the Garnier Maybelline division in the U.K. The company brought in $44.5 billion in revenue during fiscal year 2023, up from $40.2 billion the year before. Hieronimus says he thinks of L’Oréal as a “tech company,” with products like motorized lipstick applicators and advanced hair dryers.
