As OpenAI’s profile has soared, so too has Joshua Kushner’s. His firm Thrive Capital has led funding rounds for the AI startup, which is now valued at $157 billion. The son of real estate developer Charles Kushner and brother of former Trump senior advisor Jared Kushner, Joshua Kushner founded Thrive Capital more than a decade ago. Early successful investments included Warby Parker, Twitch, and Instagram; the firm has also taken stakes in GitHub, Stripe, and Kim Kardashian’s Skims. As OpenAI’s Sam Altman told Fortune for a profile of Kushner last year: “Josh makes high-conviction bets on high-quality companies and founders, and he doesn’t care too much about what other investors think. I feel a lot of camaraderie with that.”
