Jonathan “Jon” Gray, president and chief operating officer of Blackstone, joined the private equity firm as a 22-year-old college graduate in 1992. Gray ascended the ranks and, in doing so, helped Blackstone grow into the world’s largest alternative investment firm. Gray started as an analyst for private equity and M&A, and then became the global head of Blackstone Real Estate, which he helped build into the largest commercial real estate platform in the world. The group currently has $339 billion in investor capital under management. While at the helm, Gray oversaw an investment in Hilton, which generated Blackstone $14 billion in profit. As president and COO since 2018, Gray is laying the foundation for Blackstone’s future.
