Catherine MacGregor joined the French utility company in 2021 as CEO, continuing her streak of leadership in the energy sector. She previously held top positions at TechnipFMC and Schlumberger. MacGregor also serves as an independent director at Microsoft. Engie recorded €82.6 billion ($92.3 billion) in revenue in 2023, down from the previous year. But in August, MacGregor and the company raised its guidance for 2024, in spite of lower market prices in Europe. Engie, which is aiming to be carbon neutral by 2045 and working to reduce its emissions, pushed back its goal of developing some hydrogen projects from 2030 to 2035 because of a slow market and lack of progress in the industry.
