David Meyer is the author of the Data Sheet daily tech newsletter and a senior writer on Fortune’s European team. He is a Berlin-based journalist with a decade and a half’s experience writing about technology, business, policy, and politics. He is the author of the digital rights primer, Control Shift: How Technology Affects You and Your Rights. Meyer originally hails from South Africa but has lived in Europe since the late 1990s. He holds a B.A. from the University of Cape Town and an M.A. from Bournemouth University, has previously worked for Politico Europe and ZDNet, and has also written for the BBC, the Guardian, the International Association of Privacy Professionals, and others. When not writing newsletters and articles, he tries to spend as much time as possible bonding with his wife, daughter, and guitar collection.
